Today we are talking about something that gets overlooked. We wait to do it. We don’t let ourselves do it. And sometimes we feel guilty when we do it.
Celebrate.
There is so much every day that we can enjoy and celebrate, but the weight of suffering around us can feel heavy.
For a long time, I felt guilty for being healthy while my sister was sick. Then after she passed, that turned into feeling selfish for being alive. I would hold myself back from enjoying things because of one thought: it should’ve been me.
That thought felt true. But it was what created the guilt.
It wasn’t her illness. It wasn’t her passing. It was what I was thinking.
And when I saw that, everything changed.
I realized I was living through a filter where I didn’t deserve to enjoy my life. And that kept me from celebrating anything.
But that’s busted.
This life is not a consolation prize. It’s a gift.
Giving yourself permission to celebrate does not take anything away from someone else’s suffering. It doesn’t devalue it. It doesn’t ignore it.
It’s a celebration of life.
There will be moments of suffering. That’s part of being human. But there are also moments to celebrate. And when you’re in those moments, you get to fully be there.
You don’t have to hold yourself back.
Your people want to see you celebrate. They want to see you living your life fully.
So if you’ve been holding back, this is your permission.
Celebrate.
