When we last spoke with Professional Triathlete, Angela Naeth, she had just been diagnosed with Lyme Disease. It was uncertain what, if any, results she was going to have in 2018. But despite tremendous setbacks and a body that just wouldn't cooperate Angela fought and ended her season with some of the best finishes of her career...including 8th place at the Hawaii Ironman World Championship! Angela shows us what it means to have grit.

James Lawrence, The Iron Cowboy, decided to redefine “impossible” in 2015 when he took on one of the most challenging endeavors in the history of sport. He completed 50 Ironmans in 50 states in 50 days. James and I talk about how his historic journey brought him to places, both literally and figuratively, he never thought possible.

Sarah Crouch is professional runner and a prolific writer. In this essay “Such as we are made of”, Sarah delves deep into the struggles she has dealt with, both physically and mentally, in being a professional runner. Sometimes you see your personal bests just slip away and sometimes they won’t come back for quite a while. Sarah was in that position earlier this year where she hadn’t run a personal record in a very long time. So she wrote this. It’s basically a letter from past Sarah to future Sarah telling herself everything is going to be ok. It takes a certain kind of person to get through it and it takes a certain kind of person to keep pushing toward that finish line. And Sarah did just that. In October of 2018 Sarah finished top American in a staggering time of 2:32 at the Chicago Marathon. We here at the show are very proud of her and we wish her continued success.
Sarah is a 361 USA sponsored athlete and a contributor to the Personal Record Podcast.

Joe DiNoto is the pioneer behind the latest craze in NYC running: unsanctioned racing. These dangerous events through the streets of New York capture the imagination of runners around the world as some of NYC’s most elite athletes bob and weave through traffic hoping to be the first across the finish line. Joe, the founder of Orchard Street Runners, explains why racing in general and unsanctioned racing in particular taps into one of the most fundamental aspects of being human.
