The objective of this podcast episode is to share our views, concerns, and perspectives coming from young females dealing with challenging social and cultural behaviors in Indian and Pakistani communities. PerspectiveConvo and Just Us Instinct, hopes to achieve a level of understanding for females facing obstacles to help them progress in society. We also hope to share some insight that one way of survival (in the aspect of immigrant families and their traditional social/cultural beliefs and values) is not necessary for other generations to follow. PerspectiveConvo and Just Us Instinct empathize with tradition families and their views of the female roles and norms. Yet hope that progressive change is made for a chance at equality, rights, and better social understanding. We have brought up research information on specific topics leading to the issues facing South Asian women such as Mental Health, Education & Parental Roles. With special guest Harvinder Jassal, we have a clear insight into someone coming from a family dynamic with challenges related to behaviors and actions relating to the adverse circumstances created to oppress, demean, and create conflicts for women in many homes.
Just Us Instinct is a group of young South Asian women who aim to bring together different South Asian communities against injustice through social media campaigns and community action projects. They have taken initiatives related to Environmental Justice, Gender Violence, Racial Justice & with more projects with fundraising for Covid relief and more events following after the pandemic to influence more community engagement.
