An intrepid group of kayakers will be paddling their way down the final 106 miles of North Florida’s mighty Apalachicola River for a five-day adventure starting October 9. Clark Brookstone, retired state employee, military veteran and survivor of two major cardiac surgeries, talks about the walk and how its proceeds help pay for research and other Heart Association initiatives.

Debbie Lightsey, the longest-serving city commissioner in Tallahassee history, talks about the people and policies that figured prominently during her 22 years on the commission from 1988 to 2010. She also has some advice for those now serving (and those wishing to serve) on that body.
