There are three Republicans and two Democrats vying to win their party’s primary election August 30th for the newly-redrawn Second Congressional District of Florida. Two of those contenders discuss their very different approaches to governance: Democrat Walter Dartland; and Republican Ken Sukhia.

City budgeting, employee compensation, law enforcement, economic development and two very different visions for the future are topics of discussion during this Political Perspectives featuring: challenger Dr. Steven Hougland; and the incumbent, Curtis Richardson.

Growth, economic development, addressing racial and income disparities and protecting the area’s environment are just a few of the topics tackled by three of the candidates for Tallahassee City Commission Seat One: challengers Luther Lee; and Bruce Warren Strouble; along with the incumbent, Scott Maddox. A fourth contender, Gary Gayle, did not respond to multiple invitations to participate.

The contenders to represent the schools in the northwestern part of the county make their respective cases for membership on the school board and discuss their particular priorities when it comes to local education policy. With longtime member Dee Crumpler not seeking re-election, the Leon School Board District Two seat is open. Vying for the job are two veteran educators: Roger Pinholster; and Rosanne Wood.
