A high-profile athlete takes the stand in court, recounting a chilling allegation of unwanted advances by Alan Jones — including a public kiss and a later incident at Jones’s apartment — as the trial unfolds over three days. The athlete, now grappling with the emotional toll, reveals discrepancies between his police statement and courtroom testimony, including details like freezing and lip contact that were never formally recorded. He also shares how he responded to a post-event message from Jones filled with flattery and an invitation to meet — a moment he says only deepened his discomfort. Meanwhile, Jones denies all 22 charges spanning two decades and six victims, defending his legacy across radio, TV, and sports coaching. As the case progresses, the athlete’s testimony underscores the enduring trauma and the haunting difficulty of recalling every detail years later.

A tragic ambush at a party claimed the life of 17-year-old Jongkuch Kur Jongkuch, who died six days after being brutally attacked by an armed group. Now, a teen—whose identity is protected—faces murder charges as the ninth suspect in the case, with court proceedings adjourned to October 12th. Police say the attackers were prepared and caused extensive damage, prompting a street closure. Under new Queensland “adult crime, adult time” laws, if convicted, this juvenile joins 11 others facing mandatory life sentences with at least 20 years before parole eligibility. The investigation continues as justice unfolds.

Three political rivals—two independents and a One Nation senator—unite in an unlikely alliance to demand more staff from the prime minister, exposing stark disparities in parliamentary support. While the ruling party boasts over four staffers per MP, One Nation struggles with less than one. Despite their history of bitter clashes over religion, immigration, and personal vendettas, they’re now rallying around a shared grievance: being systematically under-resourced to serve their constituents. Framing it as a call for transparency and political maturity, they accuse the government of deliberately withholding support to silence dissent. This rare truce underscores how deeply frustrated they are—and how far they’ll go to be heard.

Rescuers brace for a high-stakes mission to flip the capsized Virgo Transport 8 in the Java Sea, where 129 people remain missing after rough weather flipped the vessel en route from Surabaya to Banjarmasin—six confirmed dead, 108 survived. With underwater currents too strong for safe diving, teams must first stabilize the ship before risking lives inside. Families anxiously await as Indonesia’s rescue forces, backed by global experts, plan Thursday’s critical uprighting attempt. Surface searches so far have turned up nothing; more air and sea sweeps are scheduled today. The ship, drifting about 80 nautical miles from Banjarmasin in 30-meter waters, must be recovered not just to save lives—but also to clear shipping lanes, as Indonesian law requires owners to remove vessels blocking navigation.

Pauline Hanson and Senator Fatima Payman, once bitter rivals, are now joining forces with independent MP Dai Le to demand fair staffing for minor parties and independents—claiming they’re being punished for refusing to toe the party line. Hanson, with just two staff, contrasts sharply with big parties like the Liberals and PM’s office, which boast dozens. Their alliance defies history: Hanson once questioned Payman’s eligibility over her Afghan birth and staged a burqa stunt, prompting Payman’s fiery rebuke. Now, Payman argues Australians want mature politics and accuses the PM of favoritism and secretive deals. She insists resources should be allocated independently, not by political whim, especially as she travels extensively representing WA workers. Hanson and Dai Le echo this, stressing that every staffer matters for serving vulnerable communities—and they’re all calling for equal access to the tools needed to do their jobs right.

Scientists just uncovered a colossal lunar crater—bigger than the Roman Colosseum—that went unnoticed for two years despite being caused by a rare, cataclysmic impact occurring roughly once every 132 years. Discovered by NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter in May 2024 and confirmed in early 2025, the crater, named after Thomas McGetchin, is three times larger than the previous record holder and was so powerful it sent debris soaring over 100 kilometers. This unexpected find offers unprecedented insight into how such massive impacts reshape the moon’s surface—and why it’s critical as humanity prepares to build a base there.
