Sabbath is a pause that refreshes us. It could be an entire day. Or it could be smaller moments of time throughout the day. In the pausing, we respond to God's invitation in Psalm 46 to "Be still, and know that I am God!"

Pause.

Be still.

Know God.

Last Sunday we heard some ways to help make Sabbath mindfulness a regular part of our daily lives.

In his sermon, Pastor John outlines how Jesus again clashed with the Jewish religious leaders when he healed a woman on the sabbath (Luke 13:10-17). For Jesus, the sabbath is a day of liberation, a day to do good, show mercy, save life and free people from bondage. It is a day to experience the passionate love that God has for all people.

Throughout the Gospels, Jesus focused on what is appropriate sabbath behavior, and looked at the bigger question of what the sabbath reflects about God. In a dispute with the Pharisees, they challenged Jesus's disciples for plucking grains of wheat because they were hungry.
