Australian Christian Lobby State Director Peter Abetz stated the group's objections to the law changes aren't rooted in ideology, despite the focus on doctor's personal objections.

"There are some really serious issues with this legislation; there is a need to prevent sex-selective abortions, and this doesn't cover that," Mr Abetz said.
