There is a rather vague article on Dark Matter which doesn't let readers in on the idea that super symmetry is really on the nose because of the silence coming out of CERN. The major new archaeological find in Arkansas really doesn't warn the reader that we may be listening to someone who is not showing the scientific disinterest and balance we very much rely on to gain balanced knowledge I absolutely loved the Bee story and the fact that many aspects of folk science of bees have another chapter in them to make sense. I think it all make sense that the bees bring back the scent of flowers and then only very rough directions. There are some interesting letters, but for me the big excitement is whether the software for broadcasting podcasts will pick up the summary made at the end of the recording and move it to the front. I have put in the feature and never tested it so the odds are not good for it working but hey this is going to be really exciting for me. • Circulation Quiz
I am slowly getting the hang of this and will write out the questions on cards so I can arrange them. The issue is that the record time gets broken up due to interruptions and having the equipment moved so I can't do the efficient all of quiz noise cancellation. I got up to question 9 before interruption. Question 10 was a really nice mathematical one about working out the relative sizes of the four chamber regions of the heart. Will publish this and see how it goes. Quiz Toolkit Style of Program Audio Support File Trailer Your browser does not support the audio element. There is a set piece article on making Christmas greener, which I felt dealt with issues in a very predictable way. I did discover Popcorn garlands for the Christmas Tree which I think is great . . . but I am sure I will find out why that is a dumb idea. The comment on restricting AI from the US seems to thrash about a bit without a clear direction to go in. The interesting point for me is the amount of competitive wealth tied up in AI and how this is the real strategic technology moving in to 2020 and beyond. The image of the Albatross chicks was one of the truly stunning photos I have seen. The nest stools are so odd, but the birds seems so mater-of-fact about it all. I will check out the Chatham islands of New Zealand. The article on taking supplements does raise the ugly underlying question of spending by the uninformed individual, although making a tidy living to those who would benefit from this, represents and enormous aggregate social loss. • Sports Ball Science Quiz
This is a test of the Quiz software and I wound up using the computers microphone by mistake. I really couldn't figure out the Audacity wave form and the issue was that the microphone wasn't plugged in. Still using noise reduction and have really set everything is one hit to do this. I am not going to fiddle to reduce the echo as I will make sure I use the correct microphone instead. To be honest I really don't expect bugs but we will see if the finished Podcast comes out. I am beginning to see how to structure the questions intuitively and sense there is a clear formula here to find out. I just encountered a bug then as I stopped the Audacity label export to do noise removal, and then realized that half the reception directory had old files in it Quiz Toolkit Style of Program Audio Support File Trailer Your browser does not support the audio element. • Planning for Heart Quiz lesson
Much to my surprise at lot of common knowledge about the heart and the circulation system is folk knowledge. This is a kind way of saying it is technically incorrect, but the misinformation has become part of the way we do business. Now I wasn't looking to find incorrect information, but with a heart operation and building video tutorials about it errors shone through the cultural haze. Initially it was little things like having to zoom through the back of a digital body to get to the left side of the heart, because it is in reality not on the left. It is hard to ignore the additional chamber of the heart that no one talks about .... the auricles .... because you have to lift them up to get to the bypass site. Then in cardiac rehab the plastic teaching heart had shrunk these aberrant chambers so that they were plastic handles to lift up the covering of the atrium chambers to which they are connected. You can imagine the puzzlement as everyone else cruised on through. So up to this time my dirty secret of having a heart that corresponds to reality, was buried deep inside. Everyone else was partying away with a folk heart and chit chatting about various clever ways of getting ahead with folk knowledge. I began with no particular agenda to knock over reality data points, perhaps a pattern would emerge. It certainly would be in dimensions and space well beyond the folk society. The circulation system would not work as put in the diagrams. I had built the gas delivery systems for eximer lasers and this involved toxic gases that you definitely didn't want travelling the wrong way. So at the end of the day, I was running on eight chambers, and six valves, a total aberration of the traditional four chambers and four valves. So by and by we come to making a synthetic quiz. It is the flagship of a system built on more efficient delivery of information and absorbing the quality of expert oversight in its inception. Much like a ship that slips slides down from its dry dock into the harbour, much work and fitting and sea trials await. If you imagine questions as a kind of ammunition you have to range the shots and group them, not so much as to hit a target but project a zone of strategic control. This effect is not generated by natural talent, or using the correct brand of commercial product; it is generated the interplay of ideas in the war room where concepts are positioned around targets. So the system operates at a higher level but this higher level needs that war room. However the war room needs an intelligence picture that is relevant but also comprehensive so that it leverages the complete picture. This is where, after much typing practice, the recon podcast comes in. Recon is a process itself, and in this case it is done by re-purposing a routine walk and talk. However the brief here is to identify the truly significant insights that when delivered will allow the listener to access new knowledge. The article about training T cells on the Glandular Fever virus seems to be so hard to believe. It contrasts diametrically with the relating heart disease to if your flesh is candied in the years leading up. The article on Hygroelectricity seems really flakey. I haven't been able to source much further information on this, which is unusual if it were a mainstream idea. Graphene Oxide is real and just amazing. Little oxygen atoms and the like dipping into the pi orbitals of graphene. It certainly does not disappoint as a novel material, or one I had not heard of before. A GO membrane admits water but not oxygen or nitrogen (applications just flood my mind) . It is also highly optically non linear so is used to protect against high power laser pulses. Again there are so many applications out there so there must be some major draw back. It is absolutely begging to be made into a meta material. It is highly absorbent of water and in surfactants sits in the boundary layers between liquids. I must admit carbon is an element that keeps giving, I love IPC what an absolute trooper. • Heat and particle motion Quiz
This area is a real mess in Science Education, with poor definitions that leave the students very confused. This is a difficult test if you rely on textbook definitions, but it is perhaps also thought provoking. The development agenda is the automatic production of class answer sheets. I can see them in background and when they are good to go I will have the system upload them as part of the basket of resources. As always, fingers crossed on this one. I think I have all angles covered but one is educated most by one's mistakes.
