If this interview doesn't get you excited to hit the courts, I don't know what will! In this episode we talk to Peter Lucassen - a veteran coach on the pro tour - about coaching philosophies, his favorite drills and things he's learned being around with some of the best players in the world. Most notably, he got to spend three weeks with Roger Federer during his off-season training prior to winning the 2018 Australian Open. All the great insights Peter had to offer along with his excitement and passion for the game of tennis made this one of my favorite conversations on the podcast I've had yet!

In this episode we talk about:

-lessons learned from spending an off-season with Roger Federer

-similarities and differences between European vs. American player development

-how to move better and more efficiently on court

-great drills to improve movement and develop your weapons

-finding your identity as a player

-things learned from observing the best players in the world on tour

----------

Peter Lucassen grew up in the Netherlands as one of their top ranked junior players. After a brief career on the pro tour where he reached a career high ranking of #541 in the world, he decided to come to the US to play college tennis at University of Southern California where he was an integral part of two NCAA National Championships in 2010 and 2011.

Shortly after his playing career at USC he started coaching on the pro tour. He first started working with promising Dutch player Indy de Vroome and then came back to the US to work with his USC teammate Steve Johnson. Since then he's worked with a number of top 100 pros, including Ernesto Escobedo, Ryan Harrison, Mackenzie McDonald, Christina McHale and Bradley Klahn, just to name a few.

A lifelong student of the game, Peter's love and passion for tennis is infectious and rubs off on the people around him. It was an absolute pleasure to do this podcast with him, so I hope you enjoy and learn some things that you can take and apply to your tennis game too!
