The pay for CEOs at Australia's top companies has fallen slightly, with a survey showing the median CEO pay packet has marginally dipped - to just under four million dollars a year. But the Australian Council of Superannuation Investors (ACSI) says most top ranking bosses will struggle by thanks to eyewatering bonuses.

The chance of an interest rate rise as early as next month remains a risk after the Reserve Bank board warned that any inflation spike could require urgent action to bring it down. The alarm is contained in the minutes from the RBA's most recent board meeting which was held a fortnight ago before inflation unexpectedly jumped in the May monthly reading revealed last week.

Former federal Treasurer Peter Costello has resigned as chair of Nine Entertainment after a damaging altercation with a News Corporation reporter at Canberra Airport last week. Current deputy chair Catherine West has been elevated to replace Mr Costello. Her challenge will be lead cultural change at the media organisation after allegations of sexual harrassment and inappropriate behaviour levelled at former Director of News, Darren Wick.
