October 18, 2023 Petersfield's £750 spelling mistake
A spelling mistake on Petersfield’s war memorial has been corrected.
The repair was ordered after a family told the Town Council that their relative’s name was wrong.
Council documents show the work was estimated to cost seven hundred and fifty pounds.
Speciality letter carver Robert Jolly changed an S to a C on the name of an S C J West who is shown among those who fell during the Great War of 1914 - 1918.
Robert says the work took him about an hour plus a lifetime of experience.
The repair is part of a wider programme of conservation works to clean and restore the memorial on Petersfield High Street.

Local Pupils from Herne Junior School get a taste of what local democracy is all about.
They found out what each council is responsible for, chose their own committees and even had their own Town Mayor.
We joined them part way through the debate and spoke to Cllr JC Crissey, the real Town Mayor and Sue Sayer, Head Teacher afterwards.

October 17, 2023 The Archbishop of Canterbury visits Petersfield
Justin Welby is the most senior cleric in the Church of England.
He attended Evensong at St Peter's Church on Sunday as part of a tour of the Portsmouth diocese.
The event was organised to mark the work of Anna Chaplains who support older people in local communities. He was interviewed by broadcaster Debbie Thrower, appointed the first Anna Chaplain in 2010.
The music was led by organist Mark Dancer and the choir of St Peter's Church. The building was full for the service.
