There was an opportunity last Saturday (13th September) to join the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner at Petersfield Library.

They wanted to hear your views on how safe you feel within your community. Do you trust your local policing teams and what is working and what needs to change.

Petersfield Bowling and Snooker Club raised funds for Dementia Friendly Petersfield. The charity was chosen due to the huge involvement their dear friend and fellow member Jeff Williams had until he sadly passed away in 2023.

Their President Terry and Bar Manager Ant recently presented a cheque at the Jeff Williams Friendship Group that meets on the first Friday of the month.

Blackmoor Estate is a hundred year old family-run farm located in Selborne. They are opening their orchards to the public this Autumn for apple picking, a great opportunity to stock up on locally grown apples for juice, cider or cooking. You’ll be able to pick from a wide variety of apples and pears, including Cox, Bramley, Egremont Russet, Conference, and Comice, straight from Blackmoor Estate’s beautiful orchards. It's an historic time for Railways in the Petersphere and Haslemere Station played host to many special events including games, live music, the presentation of an original piece of Southern Rail target signage and a speech from  Railway 200 expert and Railway Heritage Advisor Mike Lamport, who was born in Liphook, as his father was the station manager at Haslemere.

Mark Simpson jumped on board the vintage bus parked outside and spoke to many of the participants.

Local residents have been working with Life Story writer Rachel Lewis.

The 'Memories and Milestones’ project, was run with Petersfield Age Concern and was funded by East Hampshire Council. 

Life Story Books are a wonderful way to capture precious - often forgotten -  memories and significant celebrations.

The lives of Viviene, Peter and Maureen were captured in three books presented to them at an highly emotional event at Winton House on 17 September; the memories came flooding back and very full lives, with huge events within them, were remembered.

That is also good as a contribution to the social history of Petersfield.

Mike Waddington spoke to Rachel Lewis, Vivienne, Peter and Maureen, as well as Councillor Paul Hutchinson, who was himself quite moved by it all.

Age Concern Trustee, Luc Blais (who also drives the Age Concern bus) thanked everyone for their work on this brilliant project.

Frontline, based on Chapel Street in Petersfield, offers help with debt management and issues around benefits.

To make finding help easier they now provide a free drop-in every Wednesday morning between 10:30am and 12:30pm at the Life Church on Chapel Street, opposite the kebab shop.

They have four advisers and no waiting list.
