Do you desire to become a more grateful person? Grateful people are healthier, happier and fun to be around. In this message we explore how we can change our focus which will in turn set us free to live a lifestyle of gratefulness. You can choose to be a grateful person no matter your circumstances.
Today we celebrate lives that have been transformed by the power of God. We stand with those giving testimony to God’s power and love through water baptism. As we reflect on baptism we are reminded that we are saved from our sins for eternal life with God but also for God to pour his power and love through us to a needy world. Jesus wants to live his life through us.
Today we are looking at the lie of busyness which tells us that are significance come from how busy we are. In some ways, busyness is the new status symbol of our day. We like to talk about how busy we are. It makes us feel important and admired. But the pressure of busyness can be overwhelming. Our culture has set an unreal expectation and pace for any of us to really follow. Let’s look at how we can slow down the treadmill and bring sanity back into our inner world?
Lie # 6: It doesn’t matter what you believe as long as you’re sincere. The lie of sincerity
If I can accumulate more things, better things, bigger things then I will be happy. Just a little more. A newer model, the latest edition, latest technology. This pursuit of more and more things for satisfaction is not always a conscience thing. We are not always aware of why we are doing what we are doing.
But if that inner need for satisfaction and fulfillment is not met we will keep trying to fill that hole with more and more things. It’s just the way we are. And it’s not always big expensive things. Sometimes it’s small cheap things or even junk. And our lives soon become cluttered with possessions.
How do we counteract this impulse to find happiness in stuff?
