What is stage II in conventional rocketry?

The first stage is ignited at launch and burns through the powered ascent until its propellants are exhausted. The first stage engine is then extinguished, the second stage separates from the first stage, and the second stage engine is ignited. The payload is carried atop the second stage into orbit.

What does that mean for us? I believe it means that as we soar higher with the Lord, what got us to our place in the previous season will not carry us into the future. We need to go higher and so we must let go of some things as He leads us and trust that He has the fuel of grace and the engine of faith to propel us forward.
