In this episode of Phantom Galaxy, Nathan gathers a group of X-Files enthusiasts to cover the first season of Chris Carter's revolutionary, iconic series that not only changed the face of science-fiction on television, but also the nature of the relationship between fandom and the mainstream.

Nathan is joined by Victor Rodriguez from Inside the Sound of Fear, Dave Roy from The Great Fright North, and Tommy Wood from Reel Talk: A Movie Podcast.

We discuss the series influence, our memories of the first season, the pilot episode and then we each choose our favorite episodes and discuss.

Enjoy, and remember, THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE!

Phantom Galaxy proudly presents the first episode in a brand new series called 'The Illustrated Fan', a podcast dedicated to animation and the fine arts that inspire it.

Dave Becker and Nathan Bartlebaugh, occasionally joined by Bill Van Veghel and other guests, will explore different shorts tv shows and films in the world of animation, covering all variety of styles including hand-drawn, stop motion, computer generated, and everything in between.

On our first episode we are joined by Bill to discuss the short films 'The Mysterious Geographic Explorations of Jasper Morello' and 'Neko Jiro So, or Cat Soup'.

Then we dive into one of the oldest existing animated films, 'The Adventures of Prince Achmed' by Lotte Reiniger.

Our second feature is the trippy science fiction epic 'Fantastic Planet' by Rene Laloux.

Then we share the listener messages and our first honorary voice mail from Greg Bensch.

Phantom Galaxy continues our Showcase Series with something a little different from '2001: A Space Odyssey' and 'Dark City'. This time we're making sure 'Gordon's Alive!' as we take on the 1980's "classic", Flash Gordon.

Nathan and Bill are excited to welcome back Matt Rawlings and his son Jackson from the podcast Father and Son Watch Horror, as they help us delve into this wild whimsical journey through pulp serial escapades and rock opera swagger. And along the way, we might just save the entire universe!
