We've spent weeks going over the Sermon on the Mount and Pastor David encouraged the church to read the entire sermon (Matthew 5-7) in their private times of worship. In this bonus episode he reads the entire sermon.

In the closing of the Sermon on the Mount, Matthew recounts the reactions of the crowds to the way Jesus taught. He says they marveled because Jesus taught as "one who had authority".

There are all sorts of moral commands in the Bible, but they aren't given simply to tell us to be better people or to suck all the fun out of life. We are given those moral commands, not because God is a police officer just looking for the chance to bust us, but rather because God is a loving Father in heaven.

Every day we are faced with a multitude of decisions and within each of those we have a more foundational choice: will we live for ourselves and our own glory or will we live for God and His glory?

The Kingdom of Heaven is a major theme throughout Jesus' ministry on earth.

The author of Hebrews states that we have a great high priest who can sympathize with us in our weakness. Matthew 4:1-11 shows how, while Jesus sympathizes with our weakness, he still is shown to be the promised man who would defeat the great serpent from the Garden of Eden.

Jesus not only is called the "beloved son" of God, but he also gives to us that same privilege.

What does genuine repentance look like? Is it just apologizing and moving on or is there something more expected?
