The renowned voice of the airwaves, Phil Wilson, famous for his morning show "Phil Wilson In The Morning" on Radio Shields, Saturday 7-10am and the syndicated sensation "Phil Wilson's Vinyl Revival," engages again in a captivating conversation with the elegantly transparent Gia Ford.

Alternative pop visionary Gia Ford has released her highly-anticipated debut album Transparent Things via Chrysalis Records. Listen here. The album features the recent singles "Try Changing”, ”Poolside”, “Paint Me Like a Woman" and album track "Housewife Dreams of America” - watch the new video here.

Recorded in LA at the renowned Sound City Studios with legendary producer Tony Berg (known for his work on celebrated albums including Phoebe Bridgers’ Stranger in the Alps and Punisher), Transparent Things is an immersive collection that showcases how Gia is able to craft songs like no other artist of her generation. For Gia, those figures on the fringes of

society are by far the most fascinating. Her songs tell the stories of the downtrodden to the downright dangerous. And through them, we begin to hear familiar, uncomfortable truths about ourselves.

The theme of alienation runs through the album. “Most of the characters in these songs are outcasts, all with unique ways of feeling on the periphery, somehow,” Gia says. While each song operates in its own realm, their subject matters create a throughline of eccentricity that turns Transparent Things into an odyssey of outcasts. “Thematically it has a mythical quality, stemming from the repeated references to creatures, ghosts and undefined spirits. It’s a world of its own, where the characters have more in common than I initially thought was possible.”

The album has received rapturous critical acclaim, with DORK describing the record as “a gallery of carefully crafted portraits – outsiders from serial killers to lonely housewives each existing in a world where fact and fiction blur.” Furthermore, Wonderland quotes that the album is “everything one could hope for from a debut project. With honest, introspective, and intricate lyricism with a one-of-a-kind sonic landscape that weaves together live tracks and 70s influences”.

Gia’s haunting vocals, extraordinary gift for storytelling and her timeless sound, matched with her mesmerising stage presence, have seen her garner support from Sir Elton John on his Apple Music ‘Rocket Hour’ show, Rolling Stone UK, DIY, NME, CLASH, DORK, The Line Best Fit, 6 Music and Gay Times, and tipped as a One to Watch by The Independent, The Sun and Record of the Day. Gia was recently nominated for an AIM Independent Music Award for ‘Best Independent Video’ for previous single ‘Poolside’

Revolving Doors is the fantastic new single from singer songwriter Jamie Lonsdale and a slight departure from his usual material that is sure to delight and enthral his fans…

The song is a duet with Barbadian singer Krisirie, and the blend of her R&B Caribbean influenced voice with Jamie’s English classical tones, has brought a whole new genre to the fore. The lyrics talk of trying one more time, coming through the hard times, and the importance of sticking together.

Jamie relates this to more than just a marriage and explains, “The world is getting divorced. The only way to survive is for us all to come together. We’ve just survived a global pandemic where every individual was isolated. Now that we’re free again, we should be joining one another, not fighting between us.”

Jamie has already appeared on BBC Songs of Praise, with a performance of ‘I Vow To Thee My Country’, in a stunning TV debut.

The renowned voice of the airwaves, Phil Wilson, famous for his morning show "Phil Wilson In The Morning" on Radio Shields, Saturday 7-10am and the syndicated sensation "Phil Wilson's Vinyl Revival," engages again in a captivating conversation with the multi-talented singer-songwriters Shannon Ribicam and George Merril of Boy Meets Girl.

Following their meeting at a wedding at which the two were hired to perform, Seattle natives George Merrill and Shannon Rubicam formed the pop group Boy Meets Girl. Their eponymous 1985 debut featured the single "Oh Girl," but it was the duo's penning of two hits for Whitney Houston that established them as songwriters. "How Will I Know" topped the pop and R&B charts, while "I Wanna Dance With Somebody [Who Loves Me]" won the Grammy for Song of the Year. Returning to Boy Meets Girl, Merrill and Rubicam issued Reel Life in 1988. "Waiting for a Star to Fall" reached the top 5 in the US and went #1 in Europe; "Bring Down the Moon," its follow-up single, also charted. Boy Meets Girl also recorded the 1991 album New Dream, but it was shelved before release.

George and Shannon worked mostly as songwriters throughout the 1990s, scoring hits for the UK dance-pop groups OTT and Girlthing. Then in 2003 they revived Boy Meets Girl with the self-released Wonderground. A quiet, charming album, it dealt with their past as soft rock hitmakers, the dissolution of their marriage, and the state of life in the present. In 2005 the duo released fully remastered versions of Boy Meets Girl's recordings, including the never-released '91 album New Dream. Most recdently, the duo released a five song EP on streaming as well as on vinyl, called FIVE.~ Tom Demalon

The renowned voice of the airwaves, Phil Wilson, renowned for his morning show "Phil Wilson In The Morning" on Radio Shields, Saturday 7-10am and the syndicated sensation "Phil Wilson's Vinyl Revival," engages again in a captivating conversation with the illustrious D:REAM - Peter Cunnah and Alan Mackenzie.

Celebrating the current D:Ream best of album collection The Best Thing, UK house uber-producer & DJ, Mark Knight grabs D:Ream’s 90s anthem Things Can Only Get Better for a 2023 dancefloor shake-up.

Taking the timeless vocals from Things Can Only Get Better and some of the key organ and piano instrumentation, Mark Knight adds a bubbling 80s disco meets New-Order-esque bassline, synth pads & stabs to create a truly unique but anthemic remix, perfect for the current world mood.

Peter Cunnah and Al Mackenzie, a.k.a. D:Ream are probably best known for their hits Things Can Only Get Better and UR The Best Thing.

However, there is so much more than that to discover. They have had two UK Top 10 albums: 1993’s D:Ream On Vo1 and 1995’s World plus ten Top 40 singles. Things Can Only Get Better was no.1 for four weeks in 1994 then was famously co-opted as the anthem in 1997 by Tony Blair’s Labour Party, writing D:Ream into English history; pop, political and otherwise!

New album The Best Thing is a collection of these hits, remastered from the original 2” tapes. Also included are unreleased live versions of tracks from their 1995 Shepherds Bush Empire gig, four unreleased demos including the original instrumental version of Things Can Only Get Better, two newly commissioned remixes from Mark Knight and Illyus & Barrientos and finally some re-found unreleased remixes from the archive by Sasha, Leftfield, MK, Sure is Pure and Joy.

The renowned voice of the airwaves, Phil Wilson, famous for his morning show "Phil Wilson In The Morning" on Radio Shields, Saturday 7-10am and the syndicated sensation "Phil Wilson's Vinyl Revival," engages again in a captivating conversation with the soulful and honest Lola Lennox.

Lola Lennox’s Dreamer EP, is produced by Braeden Wright and executively produced by Annie Lennox, features five songs written and performed by Lola. Vibrant upbeat, and catchy, while also showcasing more reflective and melancholic moments, the Dreamer EP sees Lola wears her heart on her sleeve, as she draws the listener into her world with her soaring vocals and catchy melodic songwriting.

The “Dreamer” single is an uplifting yet contemplative song that looks back on Lola’s younger self and how her dreams have shaped her life over the years. Reverberating with exciting and shimmering tones, it juxtaposes infectious melodies and driving rhythms with nostalgic lyrics, melancholic chords and oscillating strings. It packs a classic pop anthem punch, that draws you in into Lola’s world of memories and dreams for the future.

The accompanying music video for “Dreamer”, was shot in Los Angeles and directed by Alexis Gudino (Jennifer Lopez, Annie Lennox, Marc Anthony). A homage to how young and innocent aspirations can turn into reality, and how the seed of a dream can bloom, the video opens with Lola singing at the piano. As it evolves, we are invited to look back on memories captured through photographs and home video recordings of Lola’s life, witnessing the chapters of Lola’s years, from dancing in the kitchen as a child in the 90s through to playing her first live shows in her twenties.

Lola’s Dreamer EP features a brand-new song, “Hourglass”, a heart aching balled written, recorded and produced alongside Eg White (Adele, Sam Smith, Florence and The Machine) in his London studio, which reflects on a dismantling love and questions why love and pain can be so inextricably linked.

Other songs on the EP include Lola’s previously released critically acclaimed singles “Want More”, "Love Like That”, and “Wherever You Go”.

Lola performed tracks from her Dreamer EP live for the first time in the UK during A Special Gala Evening of Music with Roger Daltrey and Friends of Teenage Cancer Trust on 26th March 2023 alongside two-time Ivor Novello winner Richard Ashcroft, Far From Saints and Joan Armatrading. Lola joined Underworld, Wet Leg, Jake Bugg, Courteeners and Kasabian for the historic annual Royal Albert Hall concert series to raise money

for the Teenage Cancer Trust charity.

Lola has been earmarked as an artist to watch by everyone from The Sunday Times, Music Week and NME to Vogue Italia, Wonderland Magazine and Numero.
