Philippians - Enemy or Friend of the Cross - PDF

Listen Later

Sunday, March 17, 2024 – Today's message continues our study in Philippians 3 titled, "Enemy or Friend of the Cross." Paul speaks with authority and great compassion, bringing him to tears. He addresses the church in Philippi in the area that defines them as either an "Enemy of the Cross" of Jesus Christ or a "Friend of the Cross." So, to begin this discussion, the question must be raised to ourselves: are we an enemy or a friend? I would venture to say that almost everyone would claim to be a friend. But the challenge is given: by what standards do you define that friendship? Is it by God's standards or a man-made standard? That's the purpose of this message. Paul gives us the definitions of both camps, enemy or friend. As we define God's standard, it is this pastor's prayer that we listen intently and hold ourselves accountable to what it means to be a true "Friend of the Cross" and surrender to that. This means that we repent, change, and commit to following the path laid out by God's Word so that we truly become citizens of Heaven, looking forward to the eternal glory ahead. Worship and study with us.
