  • Mortify Worldliness
The sermon exhorts believers to be active in putting sin to death by grounding their identity in Christ rather than seeking false piety or pagan philosophies. It emphasises that mortifying worldliness, particularly sexual immorality and covetousness, flows from a heavenly mindset focused on Jesus' finished work. Believers are called to cultivate a deep love for Christ and recognise their union with Him as the primary means of resisting sin. The text warns that these sins invite God's wrath but assures believers they have been rescued from this judgment through redemption. Ultimately, living out this new identity requires constantly setting one's mind on Christ and rejecting the allure of the world.

  • Why Worldview Matters for the Christian Life
Everyone has a worldview, whether they realize it or not. The real question is whether that worldview is shaped by God's Word or by the culture around us. In this episode of Contending for the Word, Dave Jenkins explains why worldview matters for the Christian life. A worldview shapes how we understand truth, identity, morality, suffering, sin, obedience, and discipleship. God's Word calls Christians not to be conformed to this world, but to be transformed by the renewing of the mind. This episode also explains the biblical framework of creation, fall, redemption, and consummation, showing why Christians must remain grounded in God's Word, committed to the local church, and steady in Christ in a confused age. • Understanding a Biblical Worldview
Every person sees the world through a lens. That lens shapes how we understand reality, truth, morality, identity, purpose, and the meaning of life. In this episode of Contending for the Word Q&A, Dave Jenkins begins a month focused on worldview and culture by explaining what a biblical worldview is and why it matters for the Christian life. A biblical worldview means seeing all of life through the truth of God's Word. It is rooted in the Bible's story of creation, fall, redemption, and restoration, and it shapes how Christians think, live, and respond to the culture around them. Dave also looks at Colossians 2:8 and Romans 12:2, showing why Christians must guard their minds from empty philosophies and be renewed by the truth of Scripture. In this episode, you'll learn why every person has a worldview, what makes a biblical worldview distinct, why ideas matter, how Scripture explains reality, how Christians can grow in biblical thinking, and why worldview shapes how we live in the world. • American History 250 - A Theological Interpretation
"Why is modern America so politically fractured and culturally adrift? The answer isn't just found in the latest headlines, but in a hidden theological shift that began over a century ago. Join us as we trace a profound line of thought from the prophetic 19th-century warnings of Southern Presbyterian Robert L. Dabney, through the sharp historical analysis of C. Gregg Singer, to the sweeping cultural philosophy of R.J. Rushdoony. Together, these three thinkers argued that America's shift toward big government and political pragmatism was ultimately caused by an apostasy in the American pulpit—the trading of biblical realism for humanistic utopianism. But don't mistake their ideas for today's top-down 'Christian Nationalism'; these men fiercely distrusted centralized power, warning that a society cannot be saved by the sword of the state, but only through a bottom-up reformation of individual hearts, families, and churches. Stay tuned as we dive into how their warnings predicted our current cultural crisis—and why their solution is radically different than what you hear on the news today."

  • The Cost of Faithfulness: Why Christ Is Worth Everything
Faithfulness to Christ often comes with a cost. In this episode, Dave Jenkins examines 2 Timothy 3:12 and explains why believers should not be surprised when obedience to Christ brings opposition, misunderstanding, or pressure to compromise. Concluding the June series on biblical sexuality and identity, this episode encourages Christians to stand firm on the truth of God's Word. Believers are reminded that endurance comes from Christ, faithfulness requires courage and compassion, and the hope of the gospel makes every sacrifice worthwhile. As followers of Christ, we are called to live with clarity, humility, and conviction while fixing our eyes on Jesus, who is worth it all. • Sufficiency of Jesus Christ
The passage in Colossians 2:1–10 teaches believers to remain firmly rooted in Christ and not be deceived by false teachings or worldly philosophies. The Apostle Paul expresses his deep concern that Christians may be strengthened in heart, united in love, and gain a full understanding of the mystery of God, which is Christ Himself. True wisdom, knowledge, and spiritual riches are found only in Jesus, not in human traditions or intellectual ideas that contradict God's Word. Paul further encourages believers to continue living in Christ as they first received Him—being rooted, built up, and established in faith with thankful hearts. He warns against teachings based on human traditions rather than Christ, reminding the church that the fullness of God dwells in Jesus, and that those who belong to Him are complete in Him. The central lesson is that Christ is sufficient for salvation, spiritual growth, and victorious Christian living, and believers should trust Him wholeheartedly while rejecting anything that seeks to replace His authority.
