As the Covid-19 pandemic begins to wind down and things are becoming more open again it's easy to want to get back to normal. But was our normal before the pandemic really so good that we want to get right back to it? What lessons did we learn during this past year that we can adopt to keep moving onwards and upwards, not backwards.
In this episode Tanner and Ryan discuss ways to move forwards not backwards out of the pandemic including working from home, new hobbies, mental health, and livable wages. They hope to spark the conversation that despite so much bad in the past year we can all take away things personally, and as a society to make a better world going forward.

There are some things that we will never know. Even within the hardest of sciences: math. This week, join Ryan, Tanner, and special guest Chad, discussing Gödel's incompleteness theorems and what they tell us about the types of certainty math can tell us about math itself.
This is all good and fun to muse about, but, what effect does this have on our day to day? How do certainty and ignorance inform us on what actions we can and cannot, or even should and should not, take? How does one navigate a world where certain types of knowledge are unattainable? Discussions of these questions and more await you within this week's episode.

In this episode Tanner and Ryan share some of their personal journeys with faith, and doubt, and living, and how those stories shape where they are today and their reasons for making Philosophy on Tap.
How is a pencil made? What does this seemingly simply process entail? How many people? What materials? Join Ryan and Tanner reading and discussing the essay, "I, Pencil", where a pencil explains the marvels of the modern world by giving a brief glimpse of what it takes to make itself.
Also, how is the environment connected to wealth generation in the modern world? Cars, coffee, and coats are great, but at what cost? Not monetarily, but to the environment. And, how large of a cost to and from the environment are we willing to front before our shoddy calculus leaves the economy in shambles, having destroyed the cornerstone of the economy, the environment itself.
These thoughts, questions, and more inspired by the essay, "I, Pencil", by Leonard Read.
Democracy is the rule by the people, but what are we to do when those people don't share the same reality? Can democracy still function in this increasingly polarized world where people don't even agree if Covid-19 is real, let alone what to do about it? Join Tanner and Ryan as they discuss what challenges our democracy is facing in the modern world and what can be done about them.
Sometimes the human body mistakes something totally harmless, like pollen or a peanut, for a dangerous threat and as a result attacks itself causing allergic reactions, which can cause serious health problems including death. Do we as a society do the same thing when we think the Devil is everywhere, leading us in our effort to fight off a threat to attack ourselves? Join the guys this week as they discuss how our modern understanding of the devil may be an allergic reaction and how we can move beyond it.

Tanner and Ryan discuss the conversations being had in the United States right now around reforming the justice system, racial reconciliation, and the divided political landscape. While not trying to define any solutions, they seek to open up the conversation at a lower temperature and explore what the goal of justice and society even ought to be.
