The Jekyl and Hyde Phillies continued their early season run of frustration taking the series finale in Chicago on Wednesday afternoon to polish off the White Sox but then came home fall flat against the Rockies and lose 5-0 in the series opener. That’s loss 11,199 of all time and I guess we’ll be ringing the Sad Trombell once again for a podcast split.

The Phils rolled into Chicago and after an unexpected off day on Monday, met for a double-dip on the South Side Tuesday afternoon. The Bats were hot while the sun was out for the afternoon game but Lucas Giolito and the Sox Pen would have their way after dark holding the streaky Phils to just a single hit in the nightcap, a 3-0 loss. With the double header split I guess we got no choice but to Ring the Sad Trombell as the Phils have a chance to earn a series win on Wednesday.

And absolutely up and down weekend left us all feeling like the early 2023 Phillies were floundering even after another offensive outburst on Sunday. While it felt like a rough weekend the Phils managed to win two of three over the weekend to split the 4 game series with the Reds. Yea we bumped our loss total up to 11,197 But also earned a series split — hey better than a loss — so let’s Ring the Bell!

Well folks, they don’t call them the Phillies for nothing. I’m not going to entertain any of these nonsensical complaints after a string of completely pathetic games. This is the losingest franchise in the history of mankind... this is what we signed up for! The Phils can’t hit, they can’t pitch, they stink. Two losses to the Marlins to close out the series, a loss to the Reds to open the next one, we’re up to 11,196 losses in franchise history 4-9 overall this season.. yuck.. You bet that sad trombone is coming.

The Phillies busted out the bats in a big way in the Monday series opener against the Marlins, taking the barrels to Miami ace Sandy Alcantara with a massive 15-3 whooping. The Fish struck back with an 8-4 counterpunch on Tuesday to even the series behind Luis Arraez impressive cycle. We’ll look ahead to the rubber match on Wednesday and Ring the Bell as the Phils look to win a second straight series.

The Phils sputtered out of New York winning just 1 of their first 6 games to open the season, but a little home cooking and a lot of home crowd was all they needed to look much more like the resilient bunch who surged down the stretch last year. Despite ending the weekend on a sour note with a blown save and blown opportunity for a home opening sweep, we’ll ring the bell for the first series win of the season in the first series at citizens bank park in front of the Phillies faithful.
