Tahkai Martin is your friendly neighborhood college guy—the homie: a resident assistant and everyone’s favorite supporter. Tahkai, however, has seen death at a young age, losing his mother to an extremely rare disease by the time he was 11 years old. He stumbled around in high school and even caught a few charges from law enforcement—all of which, were waived for a reason, he believes. It was his Caribbean upbringing, his belief in God, and the unrelenting support of his father that have kept Tahkai on his path to greatness. Barely a sophomore in college, Tahkai has plenty of wisdom to share and people to inspire.

In this episode, Tahkai speaks up about what he believes is his role in people’s lives, his journey to finding himself, and finding a reason to keep on living. He believes the biggest smiles hide the biggest pain.

Kevin Pride is from Birmingham, Alabama. Roll Tide! Once a dean at my university, Dean Pride’s passion has always been sports of any kind. In recent years, however, Pride has endured several medical emergencies that could have cost him his life, including a life-threatening heart attack. Today, Pride is a survivor—a survivor still looking for two elusive kidneys he will need sometime soon.

In this episode, Pride details his comeback journey back to life. We discuss his second chance at life at Wildwood, healthy eating and living, diabetes, and where his hope comes from.

Kristen Vonnoh is a bright-eyed journalist from Chattanooga, Tennessee. Just last month, Kristen was published in the Boston Globe—her first big byline. Unfortunately, Kristen’s first big article wasn’t about what she’s passionate about: learning all things French, fashion tips, journalism, or her love of a certain Harry Styles. Taylor is massively talented and awarded graphic designer currently in her last year at Columbus College of Art and Design. Taylor’s known on social media for her love of Nike products, but at heart, she’s a woman who finds value in art and design. Christina Robinson has a head full of amazing curls but she wears a lot of hats: She’s a public relations major in her final semester of college, but she’s also been a brand ambassador for recognized companies on Instagram, a Yelp Elite foodie, and so much more. Michaela Lewin grew up in the American South, but has lived in Bermuda since she was 9 years old. Studying to be a public relations professional, Michaela’s journey has been unorthodox—she’s also a member of the Coronavirus Graduating Class of 2020. Michaela wants to be a creative public relations professional and in her four years in college, she learned to pursue mentors and gain meaningful mentorships to make those dreams happen. February 24th, 2020 marks 24 years of life for me. I’ve learned so much in the past year and have traveled the world. I also have a massive announcement about my future: I got into graduate school.
