In this episode of Phir Se, we step into the life of social workers from Prayas who take us inside the realities of working with their clients, i.e. people caught in India’s criminal justice system. From prisons, courts and local shelters for women and/or children, to family reunions, finding jobs, getting documents and being there when their clients have no one else to turn to. They share the cases that stayed with them, the emergencies that followed them home, and what it really takes to help someone start all over again.

Phir Se explores what it takes to rebuild your life after prison and protective custody. Re-entering society is far more than walking out of custody. It means finding a place to live, getting the documents that prove who you are, rebuilding relationships, finding work, and navigating a world that may not be ready to accept you back.
Told through the experience of social workers, they take us inside the everyday realities of rehabilitation and reintegration. From prisons, courts and shelters to family homes, workplaces and government offices, we get to understand what it takes to start your life again, with opportunity, independence and dignity.
