November is National Hospice and Palliative Care Month. This year’s theme is “It’s About How You Live” Hospice & Palliative Care programs across the country are reaching out to raise awareness about Hospice and Palliative Care. Hospice is not a place, but high-quality care that enables patients and their families to focus on living despite a life-limiting illness. And Palliative care is bringing the hospice model of care to people early in the course of a serious illness. But all of these is difficult to understand. This week, the 2019 Nevada Health Conference is being held at the Renaissance Hotel here in
Las Vegas. This event is hosted by the organization, Immunize Nevada. The Conference brings
together Nevada Healthcare professionals to talk about Immunizations, disease prevention and
health issues. This year’s keynote speaker will be addressing surviving Meningococcal Disease,
otherwise known as Meningitis.
Bacterial meningitis is the most serious type of meningitis. It can lead to death or permanent
disability and can be deadly. Death can occur in as little as a few hours. Meningitis vaccines
protect against meningococcal disease. Vaccination is something you can do to protect yourself
and your family from meningitis.
We have guests today to talk about the importance of Meningitis vaccination and our special
guest who will share her story about surviving Meningitis. Please welcome Ms. Jamie

Meningitis Survivor. Jamie is also a GSK spokesperson and is very focused on raising awareness
for meningococcal disease and the 2 vaccines needed to protect teens and young adults.
