  • Phonica Friends & Family Mix Series 20: Josh (Rark Mothko)
Our next Friends and Family mix comes from one of our staff newest to DJing. That being said in a short amount of time Phonica family member Josh Fortune (a.k.a Rark Mothko) has built up his reputation to secure a residency on Voices Radio as well as playing monthly at Soho hot spot The Social. For this mix Josh takes us on a journey of some of his select club focused records mainly in the realms of tech and classical house music. • Phonica Mix Series 119: Luke Una
It is not everyday we are sent a 5 hour mix from someone we have asked to join our Phonica mix series; but when Sheffield & Manchester legend Luke Una sends one… you have to jump straight into it! Having become first recognised in the late 80’s and 90’s as one half of production team “The Unabombers” with Justin Crawford, Luke over the years has shown to be a master in all genres be it Balearic, to Brazilian to E soul, House, Disco and Techno, you name it! With his Worldwide FM show over the years gaining a cult following Luke has gained an even more of a broader crowd from his curation of his E Soul Cultura compilation series via the label Mr.Bongo (Both comps topping our EOY lists in 2022 and 2023). This exact vast taste (that is displayed in these compilations) is very much pummelled into this five hour journey of a mix like a piece of clay and sculpted into a fine piece of art. We had a chat with Luke about this timeless mix and what he has been up to lately: http://offtherecord.net/phonica-mix-series-119luke-una/

We are straight outta the bank holiday here at Phonica and right back into business with another killer mix in our Phonica series from one of our all time favorites of late; Spotlight Records and Panorama Bar regular Chris Cruse.
Chris has been a predominant figure in the queer dance scenes in America and in Europe over many years having represented his mainstay party, now label, Spotlight from L.A., the Club Toilet Crew from Detroit and now residing in Berlin the last couple of years where he holds down regular slots at the city's major clubbing institution Berghain / Panorama Bar (most notably the party Snax which takes place there). Chris has dug deep and worked hard with these residencies to showcase the queer roots of house, techno, disco, and other forms of dance music.
For Phonica 118 Chris takes us on a heated, hot and heavy club ready mix which would get anyone out to party. We sat down and had a lovely chat with Chris about his mix, his approach to DJing and what he has got up his sleeve for the future. For Phonica 118 Chris takes us on a heated, hot and heavy club ready mix which would get anyone out to party. • Phonica Friends & Family Mix Series 18: Ysanne
All good things must come to end as they say. In this instance producer and DJ Ysanne recently departed ways with us at Phonica having held it down for us every Saturday for the last couple of years.
Having worked behind our counter as well as working some time as a artist agent Ysanne is now taking a step forward in her own musical journey. With gigs stacking up in her favour as well as her own productions appearing on records labels like Semi Delicious & her own solo EP potentially on the horizon it was time we grabbed Ysanne for a mix. And what a mix, with just over an hour Ysanne takes us on a journey through variations of styles, moving euphoric rhythms into more techy and harder moments as it progresses this mix is a perfect calling card as what to expect from one of her sets. Be sure to check her out festivals like Love International and more this year. You won't regret it. We had a quick chat with Ysanne, about the mix, what she has coming up and her time in Phonica.

  • Off The Record Mix Series 46: Elena Colombi
Italian label-head, radio host and DJ Elena Colombi has been holding it down on platforms like NTS and stages like Dekmantel for close to up to a decade. Their ear for the out there crossings of experimental, industrial and techno sounds is truly next to none. Not only does this show their skills on how to blend these styles to accuracy world wide but reflects on the music they pick for their excellent Osàre! Editions imprint since 2019. We are very excited to have Elena on the Off The Record series with a live recording of them at UBU club. A power hour of acid, bleep and techno sounds. For full interview hit the link above!

  • Phonica Mix Series 117: Moopie
Not many people can combine the worlds of contemporary, avant garde and club sounds the way 'A Colourful Storm' label head Moopie can. Having birth the label out of the highly regarded mix series of the same name releasing names like Klon Dump, Valentina Magaletti and some beautiful compilations curated from Time Is Away to name a few, Moopie real name Matthew Xue, has shown he has a phenomenal ear for the diverse and interesting. This same ear also applies to his outstanding DJ sets which have seen him join stages with the likes of Ben UFO, Helena Hauff as well as taking the helms recently in Pickle Factory all night long to a solid packed venue til morning. For this mix Moopie has supplied us with a live recording of his opening set for Objekt and CCL in Melbourne. A perfect example of his vast stylings bringing the mood filled room into a raucous party. We had a quick chat about the mix, whats coming up and the label with the man himself.

  • Phonica Friends & Family Mix Series 17: Sam Luke (Skip Wooznam)
Our very own discogs addict and all hands on deck man Sam Luke aka Skip Wooznam drops our latest Phonica Friends & Family mix. The mix is one for the deep diggers and chin strokers as well as the party goers and all nighters out there. Sam looks after alot of our online orders that go out worldwide as well as taking to the counter when we are in the height of it but this has not stopped him representing us at some of our big 20th birthday celebrations last year at the likes of Junction 2 and opening room 3 at Fabric. You can also catch Sam playing around London at Slipped Disc and Club Hiatus where he holds residencies.
Bringing his own taste and sound to our crew we are delighted to welcome him to the series. We had a brief chat with Sam about the mix and what he's got going on outside of these walls!
