The aim of the legislation would be to suppress black and other ethnic minority voters. This is a power grab by the Tories.

There is not a problem to be solved but this legislation undermines our democratic institutions.

The most legitimate elections are usually the most inclusive. Mandatory Voter ID will likely disenfranchise at least 25% of voters who include young people without photo ID and also many black and other ethnic minority voters.

This voter suppression legislation is merely an attempt to disenfranchise people who normally do not vote for the Tories.

It is odd that the government plans for legislation where there are no problems to be solved, yet the government is silent on an issue that is a real problem i.e. social care. The Tories created the problem in the 1980s and Boris Johnson promised that no one would have to sell a primary home to pay for social care. Actually, people are having to do exactly that.
