Back in 2015 Pick A Disc was a backdoor pilot episode on the movie podcast Pick A Flick. the guest was Lee Chrimes and the album talked about was Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds' "Murder Ballads". So Lee is OG from back in the day, and he's here to talk about the David Bowie album "Outside". An interesting experimental album with a lot of stuff going on, Matt and Lee delve deep into the album and how it's influenced Lee's creativity all these years.

For their third album, @hindsband expanded their sound to cover more instruments and started to write in Spanish. The result is a varied and fuller sounding album than it's predecessors. Settling into a garage-pop like sound, "The Prettiest Curse" emerges as the band's best album.

An album that was unfairly snubbed for the Mercury Music Prize for silly reasons, Rina Sawayama has created a brilliant balance of the modern and throwback to the 2000s. But somehow manages to incorporate *all* of the sound from that time in one of the best albums this year. ⁠

Previous Disc Pick-ee Dan o'Dell, aka Heartwork released an acoustic cover album of the Blink-182 record, "Enema of the State" after playing a Facebook live set of it earlier this year. It's roots are from a live set he played several years ago that I was at - and was one of the most fun sets I had the pleasure of watching. Dan has now recorded and released the whole album to listen to. ⁠
