As consumer prices skyrocket across the country, cellphone bills are the surprising exception. Statistics Canada’s Consumer Price Index shows that wireless costs have actually fallen more in the last two quarters than they did in the last two years. This exception to the inflationary trend is being attributed to increasing competition in Canada’s telecommunications industry, driven in large part by Quebecor’s acquisition of Freedom Mobile earlier this year.
