When we choose to continue to sin and give into temptation, we are ignoring the emergency exit in a burning building.

Matthew 16:13-18

Most people mean no harm in taking this passage out of context and I see how it actually brings great comfort. I do not think that taking comfort from the Holy Scripture is ever wrong, but I do think it can be careless of us to use it incorrectly.

No, God did not kill Moses. But on the flip side, Jesus willingly went to the cross to die for us. Jesus stepped for our sin as Zipporah did for Moses. He took the action needed to save those He loves from the wrath of God and eternal spiritual death.

The mention of this event is so small that it may be overlooked as nothing more than just a funny antidote in the pages of scripture, but there is nothing funny about mocking the God of Israel.
