This episode confronts the stark reality that only 0.09% of radio airplay goes to songs by Black women, revealing the deep-rooted erasure and barriers they face across genres and around the world. Inspired by Brycsyn Hampton’s advocacy and research, we explore the overlooked legacy of Black women in music, from country and blues to reggaeton and pop, and examine how exclusion in education and industry perpetuates inequality. Discover why visibility for a few is not equity for all, and how real change requires rewriting narratives, amplifying marginalized voices, and actively supporting Black women artists. Join us as we challenge the silence, spotlight resilience, and call for a musical landscape where every voice is heard.
