Society puts so much pressure on how we should live our lives but we should get out of that mind frame and start doing what makes us happy. Our Bubba crossed the rainbow bridge last summer. He was our first family cat and became the king of the house. He loved us, and protected us and was with us through good and bad times. In the past many people have told me that I’m fat, I have a big belly, and was always the ugly one of the group. As time past I lost weight, people started telling me, “wow you lost weight and look good now.” Although that made me feel good, my question is, why do many of us focus so much on body image. Every morning when I look in the mirror i try not to criticize my body so much, instead I’m starting to focus on my personality, and how that’s more important than the way I look. Social media, and the world, makes us feel so self-conscious because of the way we look, which often leads us to being so negative with ourselves. Body image does play a big part in mental health, and I’m starting to accept myself and my body for what it is. So for all of you that have body issues, love yourself. Your body is your temple, take care of it, and most importantly appreciate it. 

Postpartum blues, depression, and anxiety is different for everyone. Some may never experience it, while others may experience it with all of their births. Some may only need the support of family/friends, while others may need to seek medical attention. This does not mean you as a mother are weak for experiencing this, this means you are strong for acknowledging that you need help. I had lumbar discectomy 7 months ago. The recovering and healing process has been a rollercoaster ride. I learned that I am not superwoman and it’s ok to ask for help. This journey has made me realize who my true friends are, and more about myself. I am thankful for my body and everything that it’s gone through. Tune into my recovery.
