Pinstripe Pals

Through one week of the 2022 season, the Yankees have undoubtedly given us hope and heartbreak a lot. The ups and downs of this offense has already shown for the Yankees, and many bats have been way too cold to start the season. Guys like Donaldson, IKF, and Higgy have gotten off to brutal starts, while others like Rizzo and Stanton have held this team on their backs.

On the other hand, the Yankees' pitching staff has looked very impressive. Cole hasn't been great, but he's been effective enough to keep us in ballgames with a chance to win. The bullpen looks strong outside of Chapman, who has struggled early and often with his command.

It's still early, it's only April. These next 14 games before the Yankees hit Toronto are crucial to their chance at a division title. Games like this matter when you're down the stretch fighting for a playoff spot. The East is Toronto's to lose, but if the Yankees play their cards right, and play smart baseball, they have a chance at it.

With an underwhelming off-season thus far, many Yankee fans hope to see Trevor Story and more before Opening Day on April 7th. The Yankees missed on opportunities to sign multiple big name Free Agents at a fraction of their original market price when the market first opened up in November of 2021.

"The league has closed the gap on us", they said. The league closed the gap on the New York Yankees a long, long time ago. And they have yet to go back to a fully operational Death Star with a loaded checkbook left empty, and Plan C's being their "best" option moving forward into the 2022 regular season. We can all only hope as fans that Hal lets Cashman open the books up for guys like Story, Conforto, and to make a trade for a #2 in a lacking rotation. The Yankees are in the toughest division in baseball, and as it looks right now, they are at best a 3rd place team with just hopes and no certainty of locking up a wildcard spot.

Baseball was supposed to start in 5 days from today, but because of lard man, Rob Manfred, all of us are still waiting for this dreadful lockout to end. The Pinstripe Pals will not stand with Manfred's decisions and his stupidity during this lockout, and will hope that the players can and will demand to play the game we all love in 2022.

Bringing you the first episode of Role Calls, DJ LeMahieu is first on the list. Needing to bounce back from a brutal, uncharacteristic 2021, in which he batted .268 with 10 homers and 57 runs batted in, LeMahieu shows resilience and determination to get back to his MVP caliber form. We bring up our predictions for him for the 2022 season, as well as what role he shall play on the Bronx Bombers this season.
