National Inclusion Week takes place every September and is a time for us all to celebrate inclusion and take action to build inclusive workplaces  

This year’s theme is ‘NOW IS THE TIME’ and we want to elevate voices from across our business and bring even more energy and enthusiasm into our conversations about inclusion.  

At Greene King, it’s also a reminder that Inclusion is, and remains, important and we want it to be the way we do everything, not just a thing we do. All of us need to work towards everyday inclusion - even more so now, in this time of such polarised views.  

In this episode, we speak to Si, Luke, and Zara about how they embraced an inclusive culture within their team when they used to work together and how it has supported their own careers. 

As well as talking about how Luke the manager of the team at the time fostered an inclusive culture in their team, Zara and Si also share their own experiences of being part of the lgbtqia+ community and Luke talks about growing up and working with Dyslexia.

In this episode, we speak to Maddie who works as waiting staff at our Poppyfields pub in Northampton. Maddie has now been with Greene King for over a year and a half but originally joined through our Mencap Programme.

We discuss with Maddie her experiences of joining Greene King through the social mobility program and how it has helped her grow her confidence and become a core member of her pub team.

In this  podcast episode, Kathryn discusses the barriers to progression facing women in the working world and how Greene King aims to initiate a dramatic change in its own leadership development strategy. 

On this episode we speak to Jowita who works as an ER case Manager at our support centre who is proud members of our employee led inclusion group (ELIG) Unity that support individuals from Black, Asian and minority backgrounds aimed at creating true inclusion for all.

Jowita shares her experiences of moving to the UK, working as a young polish female and how she navigated challenges of integrating into the UK workplace culture.

On this episode we speak to Simon, Mike and Renee about being part of a diverse team who all work together at the Mannor Farm in Birmingham.

We discuss Mike and Renees experiences of joining Greene king on our social mobility programmes through the Prince's Trust and Mencap. Simon, the General Manager of the pub also shares his personal experiences of being a father to 3 children with autism and how he is a member and proud advocate our employee led inclusion group (ELIG) Ability that support individuals with visible and non-visible disabilities at Greene King.   

On this episode we speak to Ellie, Ruby and TJ who are proud members of our employee led inclusion group (ELIG) Ability that support individuals with visible and non-visible disabilities at Greene King.   

As well as talking about their involvement in the employee led inclusion group, they also share their own experiences of living with Multiple sclerosis (MS), Anxiety and Autism and how it impacts them in everyday life and the workplace.

On this episode we speak to Alice, co-chairperson of Village Greene—the employee led inclusion group (ELIG) that supports the LGBTQ+ people at Greene King.   

As well as telling us about her LGBTQ+ activism both in an outside of work, Alice shares her experiences of coming out in less than favourable circumstances and the difference between the projected image of a more accepting society and the reality.  

She also talks about her experiences of becoming a mum in a same-sex partnership and how she navigates attitudes towards that.

In the latest episode of Pint of Perspective, we talk to the brilliant, inspiring Claire about the effects of menopause on women in the workplace.

An impassioned member of the Greene Sky employee-led inclusion group (ELIG) at Greene King, Claire is helping to drive an agenda for greater awareness among employers of the challenges facing women experiencing perimenopause and post menopause.

She discusses how "brain fog," memory loss and anxiety played their part in her own menopausal experience. Not to mention the eventual euphoria of the "second spring" that she experienced, and the hope that comes as the effects of menopause subside.

Claire also advocates for developing employers' approaches to accommodating cis and trans women undergoing this challenging period of their professional lives. And talks about how Greene King is attempting to get ahead of the curve on addressing this vital issue.
