In this episode, we begin our discussion of the 1959 film Sleeping Beauty. While enjoying the light complexity of a Belgian-style blonde, we discuss the fairy tale context for sleeping beauty and the state of Disney during production and leading to release. This leads us into the first act where the major characters are introduced at the celebration of Aurora’s birth and the blessings and curse are laid. The fairies plan while we try a gingerbread homebrew Jake and his brothers made. This episode concludes in a glade in the woods where Aurora and Phillip meet and then part.
