Waylon and Willie start this broadcast with Luckenbach, Texas. Then, The Kendall's sing "Heaven's Just a Sin Away" a song composed by Jerry Gillespie, that was recorded in 1977. 

Dave greets listeners and promises some surprises on the broadcast. 

Then Eddy Arnold sings Just A Little Lovin'. Then Ray Price sings As Strange As It Seems (I Still Love You). 

Dave explains that it is Labor Day weekend and he plans another broadcast tomorrow also. Dave mentions Live 365 renewal is due at the end of September, and thanks Live 365 VIP's for helping keep us on the air. 

From 1988, Becky Hobbs pays tribute to “The Possum” with “Jones On The Jukebox”. And of course next we hear from Jones himself with “White Lightning”. Next we hear, "Looking Back to See" a song written and originally performed by Jim Ed Brown and The Browns. 

Time for some Buck Owens with “My Heart Skips a Beat" from 1964.

We get things started with Charlie Daniels and  "The Devil Went Down to Georgia". Dave's opening monologue and welcomes listeners on a Labor Day Monday. "Walkin' After Midnight" a song written by Alan Block and Don Hecht and recorded by American country music artist Patsy Cline is next. 

Dave states that at the top of the hour we will be counting down the Top 10 songs for the week.

Del Reeves – “A Dime At A Time”. Released: 1967 is next. Dave speaks of Del Reeves Impersonations. Dave runs the chat room. 

A member of The Country Music Hall of Fame, Mac Wiseman: 'The voice with a heart' is next and a cool “name dropper” song - If I had Johnny's Cash and Charley's Pride. 

"Just Good Ol' Boys" is a 1979 novelty single by the duo of Moe Bandy and Joe Stampley is next.

Dave mentions his grandkids. Then Dave speaks of Johnny Cash's early military career as a radio operator who was able to copy “Morse Code”. A brief segment from an interview with Larry King.

Dave speaks of politics and then plays "The One on the Right Is on the Left" a country song written by Jack Clement. It was recorded by Johnny Cash on November 29, 1965. 

A real Labor Day themed song is next, Johnny Paycheck - Take this Job and Shove It!

We begin with the theme song. Dave greets listeners and mentions that it is Labor Day weekend.

Dave plays a Dutch song. You may remember The Everly Brothers version, but t his one is sung in The Dutch Language.

This was before our full time Pioneers of Country format, but don't let that fool you as there is plenty of country music on this broadcast.

Kookaburra Blues song by The Bellamy Brothers. It's country, but also a world type song which was our main format at the time.

Dave plays some outtakes of him making a promos for the broadcast.

Then he plays "Murder on Music Row" a 1999 song written by Larry Cordle and Larry Shell, and originally recorded by American bluegrass group Larry Cordle & Lonesome Standard Time, as the title track from their album Murder on Music Row. It gained fame soon after that when it was recorded as a duet between American country music artists George Strait and Alan Jackson. The song laments the rise of country pop and the accompanying decline of the traditional country music sound; it refers to Music Row, an area in Nashville, Tennessee considered the epicenter of the country music industry.

Pioneers of Country August 17, 2013

We begin with a tune from the group Alabama, "My Home's in Alabama".

Dave opens the program and dates the show followed by Bobby Austin from 1968 “This Song Is Just for You"

After which he gives a brief bio on Bobby Austin. Another “Bobby” is next, "Look Who I'm Cheatin' on Tonight" bu Bobby Bare.

"Wolverton Mountain" is a country music song and 1962 crossover hit that established Claude King's career as an American country singer-songwriter. The song was a cover of the original version by Merle Kilgore, which was based on a real person named Clifton Clowers (Kilgore's uncle).

Dave says hello to regular listeners Ladd and Daphne. Dave plays a song from Ladd's album, “In The Country”.

"The Cattle Call" is a song written and recorded in 1934 by American songwriter and musician Tex Owens. It later became a signature song for Eddy Arnold which we hear now.

Dave remembers ”The King” Elvis Presley and speaks of his visit to Graceland in 1998.

Pioneers of Country August 1, 2015

Our tribute to Lynn Anderson. 

Lynn René Anderson (September 26, 1947 – July 30, 2015) was an American country singer and television personality. Her crossover signature recording, "Rose Garden", was a number one hit internationally. She also charted five number one and 18 top-ten singles on the Billboard country songs chart. Anderson is regarded as one of country music's most significant performers.

Lynn Anderson is NOT in the Country Music Hall of Fame, but perhaps someday she will be.

Not much talking by Dave today. He wanted to get as many Lynn Anderson tunes in as possible due to limited time for the broadcast.

A Place to Fall Apart

Merle Haggard passed away on April 6, 2016. Not long after Live 365 went out of business, so we never got to do a proper tribute broadcast. That is until now.

During the COVID Pandemic of 2020 and 2021, I got the chance to travel to a place close to home – my attic!

Up there I found a treasure trove of recordings that I had forgotten about. Among them was this several part syndicated broadcast titled “The Merle Haggard Story”. I thought it would be a great tribute to “The Hag” if we rebroadcast this part of Merle's beginnings, and continuing to his mid career popularity.
