Passion. Revolution. Innovation. Reinvention.
A band for the people, Rage Against The Machine set the bar for every politicised artist to come. Whether it was De La Rocha’s impassioned vocals or Morello’s virtuosity on the guitar, RATM led from the front and garnered an entire army of followers.
Fast forward to 2002. The departure of De La Rocha left the band at a crossroads: do they continue RATM with a new frontman, not unlike Black Sabbath and AC/DC before them, or do they recruit a new captain and follow a new flight path?
The answer came in the form of Chris Cornell. One rehearsal, and Audioslave was born.
Arguably the greatest supergroup of the modern era, Audioslave fused the sound of two 90s powerhouses to create an everlasting imprint on post-grunge era rock’n’roll.
Episode 8: Slave Against The Machine pits the entire original discography of both bands, from their eponymous debuts to their genre-bending finales.
It’s Rage Against The Machine vs Audioslave in a battle for rock culture supremacy.
