Communication No Nos with Marvin Brown
Whether it’s giving and receiving compliments, using body language to convey different meanings, or taking criticism well, today’s guest, Marvin Brown, gives us the tips and techniques needed to help everyone (from shy women to sales women) communicate better.
You’ll learn how to:
Never be at a loss for words or subject to talk about — even at a company party
Start conversations with people you really want to meet — in professional or social settings
Extract yourself gracefully from bores, windbags, know-it-alls and negative people you don’t want to talk to
Make memorable first and last impressions with clients, business colleagues and prospective love partners
Marvin Brown began his career in sales as a Financial Planner. While doing so, he participated in what was then the largest mutual fund sale in the history of the Financial Services industry. But he soon came to realize that he had an innate understanding of the social skills planners need to reach their true potential. He decided to transfer into sales management where he became the National Sales Manager of the Dreyfus Corporation, at that time the second largest mutual fund group in America. Marvin was also the Founder and first President of the New York City chapter of the Financial Planning Association.
Marvin personally trained thousands of men and women at national and regional conferences in the art of selling themselves. Today at workshops around the country, he teaches a wide variety of people the social and conversational skills that enable them to more fully engage in and enjoy their life.
Marvin’s new book, How to Meet and Talk to Anyone, Anywhere, Anytime, presents dozens of fresh, original ways to navigate through any type of scenario with any type of people. Marvin is the owner of Contact Strategies, LLC, in New York City where he also resides.
