  • Pixels & Ink Podcast: Episode 383 — Paramount on the Horizon

    On this week's Pixels & Ink Podcast: Brendan, Chris, Newcomer David, Dayna, and Jordan sit down to talk about the massive announcement from Paramount+ on ViacomCBS' Investor day—including the third Sonic movie being greenlit alongside a Knuckles Spinoff series; Halo being greenlit for a second season, South Park and Bevis and Butthead being Paramount+ exclusive and much more. They gang goes on to talk about Netflix's announcement of a movie based on the ground-breaking video game: Bioshock. Brendan and Jordan discuss whether this will be worth watching, or miss the mark (as so many video game movies have).

    Onward, the gang talks about the tragic shutting down of Nintendo's 3DS and WiiU eShop, and why it's a terrible blow for videogame preservation and the history of retro-gaming. They also talk a bit about Cyberpunk 2077 getting some patching for PS5 and Xbox Series S/X.

  • Pixels & Ink Podcast: Episode 382 — Being Direct

    On this week's Pixels & Ink Podcast: Brendan, Chris, Dayna and Jordan sit down to talk about the biggest news of the week—the February 9th 2022 Nintendo Direct. The gang talks about all the big reveals, from Fire Emblem to Xenoblade Chronicles 3, to the massive announcement of No Man's Sky landing on the Nintendo Switch; and how they feel about them. There is also an extended conversation about microtransactions in games, and gamers' reaction to them, as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will be adding 48 courses from previous entries in the franchise as paid DLC. 

    This conversation goes on for several hours, so the gang has to quickly talk about the Playstation Indie presentation and Chris' disappointment over a lack of Stray. They also discuss the Hulu revival of Futurama despite John DiMaggio not returning to reprise his role as Bender. The gang talks about whether the show may have run its course.

Dayna unboxes the HUAWEI FreeBuds Lipstick, and talks about the new Xbox/OPI crossover. And of course, they couldn't miss the new Halo trailer.

    The reviews and impressions section has the team reminiscing about the best and worst reviewed products and media of 2021, as well as exploring the new LG C1 OLED television. Chris and Alex get chatting about the new release of Pokémon Legends: Arceus. On the release of Dying Light 2, Khari talks about his experience with the game, and why he ultimately gave the game a nine.

Brendan discusses his recent review of The Woman in the House Across the Street From the Girl in the Window and his preview of Crusader Kings III on console. The gang talks about whether this is a good course correction and house cleaning for the publisher that has been embroiled in controversies and abuse allegations, or perhaps will its past be swept under the rug as Microsoft seeks to leverage its long dormant IPs? 

    Afterwards, the gang talks about CGM's official winner of the Reader's Choice GOTY award, and spends a lot of time talking about the winners of the Best in TV and Movies. 

    Moving on, the gang talks about the recent leaks of Pokémon Legends: Arceus and how so-called fans will never be happy with any Pokémon game they ever get—even when it's exactly what they've been asking for; and in tragic news, the gang talks about the passing of Gaspard Ulliel, shortly after the reveal trailer of Moon Knight.

  • Pixels & Ink Podcast: Episode 378 — Do it Live

    On this week's Pixels & Ink Podcast: Brendan, Chris, and Jordan sit down for the second attempt at a live podcast—which you can watch on our Twitch, or Youtube channel. The podcast gang sit down to discuss some of the news they missed last week, starting with Days Gone director Jeff Ross talking about the game's failure in comparison to Ghost of Tsushima. They also take a look at Konami getting into NFTs (because of course they are), and Square Enix also getting into NFTs (because apparently they missed the point of their most critically acclaimed game). 

    Afterwards, the gang talks a bit about E3 2022 inevitably being a digital-only event for the second year, which leads to a discussion of Jordan's recent article about the necessity of E3 as an event—presently, and going forward. Continuing on unnecessary things, the gang discusses the recent discovery that Razer's Zephyr masks are not (as previously advertised) N95 certified and offer little to no protection—but damn do they look cool. 

    To bring things down for a minute, the gang also talks about the recent passing of comedian Bob Sagat, then shifts gears hard to talk about the Kirby and the Forgotten Lands and Pokémon Legends Arceus trailers. In the reviews section, Jordan got his hands on a toothbrush, Chris has been playing Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker and Brendan has been watching Archive 81.

  • Pixels & Ink Podcast: Episode 374 — 'Tis the Season

    On this week's Pixels & Ink Podcast: Chris, Dayna and Jordan is down to talk about Nintendo's surprise Indie Showcase and some of the games that got announced—Jordan is really excited for the spiritual prequel to The Messenger: Sea of Stars but was mostly disappointed that Hollow Knight: Silksong didn't get a release date. The gang moves on to talk about Ubisoft's brilliant move into the NFT-sphere and how it is no way a shady, planet-destroying, short-term Ponzi Scheme that is very on-brand for Ubisoft. Continuing the Ubisoft talk: Chris, Jordan, and Dayna talk a little about the announcement of a Splinter Cell "remaster," and that devolves quickly—Jordan isn't very impressed with the idea and for good reason.


    Afterwards, the gang talks a bit about CD Projekt Red settling its investor lawsuit for $1.85 million, and the continued tragedy that is Cyberpunk 2077. On a cheerier note, the gang gets into the holiday spirit to talk about Fortnite's Winterfest update, and all the fun presents to be had within! They also talk a bit more about the new season and some of the more interesting game mechanics.

    In the review section, Chris talks a bit about Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker and his experience starting fresh in Square's acclaimed MMO. Dayna talks a bit about her experience seeing Matrix Resurrections, and Jordan talks a bit about his experience going to San Francisco to play GTFO.
