Today’s episode is sharing two notable festivals that ironically take place on Saturday, January 27th, one is the Annual Kumquat Festival in Dade City and the other one is the Annual Gasparilla Pirate Fest in Tampa. While each festival is very different from the other, the Annual Kumquat Festival offers multiple ways to enjoy this tangy fruit such as pie, smoothies or salsa, as well as enjoying the car and truck show, the Kumquat Kids Corral, or the quilt challenge. It is a free festival that draws in about 35000 annually and if parking downtown, take advantage of the free parking. As always, I also highlight a few adventures nearby such as TreeHoppers Aerial Adventure Park which is the largest in Central Florida, Giraffe Ranch or Snowcat Ridge. The second festival is that of the Annual Gasparilla Pirate Festival which runs between 11:30-1P with over 100 floats, 5 marching bands. If parking at the Tampa Convention Center, arrive earlier as it does fill up quickly and will require separate parking and if your little pirates are over 2, they will require a separate admission ticket. If you’re nearby Tampa, keep these attractions nearby such as Busch Gardens or Dinosaur World.

Today’s episode is about highlighting the annual Sebring Soda Festival which is located in Sebring, FL, which is about an hour south from Legoland in Winter Haven. Some of the highlights of this particular festival combined with your required event pass is that you will be able to sample up to 25 of the 200 types of craft soda, which have grown in popularity because they are made with cane sugar instead of corn syrup. They also have really fun flavors like key lime, espresso, pepper and peach cobbler. It is also a very well known event as over 20,000 attended last year.

Otherwise, if you haven’t visited the area of Sebring previously, it is recognized as a swimming and boating destination as well as being the home of the Sebring International Raceway which hosts the annual event, 12 Hours of Sebring which is a race that entices fans and teams from around the world. A few other notable attractions to mention is the Highlands Hammock State Park which is very popular as it’s well known for being the first state park created in Florida. And if you’re a fan (like I am) of recognizing historic places then you can also find this location on the National Register of Historic Places. Another way to enjoy the Highlands Hammock State Park would be the three scenic miles for in-line skating, or eleven miles for biking, and something I learned is this is part of the Great Florida Birding Trail.

Today's episode is about highlighting the multiple options that can be enjoyed at the ‘Most Famous Beach’ in Daytona Beach, which is about an hour from Central Florida, includes the largest motor sports event, Daytona 500 since 1959(!) at the International Speedway, or other events there like the Magic Night of Lights or the Coke Zero Sugar 400 Relay race. Did you know that there are 27 known murals within the Iconic Mural trail, if you’re a fan of seeing creative street art, check these out! But you can also rent bikes, take scenic drives or if you feeling like you want to see some incredible sights of Daytona Beach and beyond, head over to the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse which is the tallest lighthouse in Fl, standing at 1887, and on museum grounds, you can also check out the Marine Science Center which has a lot of events and a sea turtle rehabilitation area. Or the main point of the episode is sharing about the annual Jeep Beach event for those who are passionate about Jeeps or own a Jeep, about 200,000 people attend every year and you’ll see about 20,000 Jeeps in the area.
