“Son Cubano, much like American jazz, has been in a constant state of evolution from its beginnings. Valera continues in that spirit, shedding new and modern light on the music.”
— All About Jazz
VACILÓN SANTIAGUERO is Kiki Valera’s second US solo release after many distinguished years as director of La Familia Valera Miranda in Santiago de Cuba. It reaches beyond his core performing group to present collaborations with some GRAMMY® award winning musicians and to feature his favorite trumpeters, some Cuban-born, others US-born, but all with justified reputations for playing Cuban music out of love if not from DNA.

If you haven't heard of Daryl Gott, you'll be hearing from him soon.
His new album released Oct 2023 is doing well with his unique combination of mellow tone alto sax combined with New York style harmonies. Daryl's album APERTURE prompted Arturo Gomez of KUVO Radio to say "Daryl Gott was one of KUVO Jazz's 'Thirty Under Thirty' musicians we chose in 2015, our 30th Anniversary year as a musician who would succeed, he has not disappointed us! His debut as a leader, "Aperture" ranks as one of the most played albums in the Fall of 2023, a well-deserved honor!"
I hope you enjoy this candid conversation with this rising star based in the Denver area.
