Over 40 La Trobe University students from our Bendigo, Mildura and Melbourne campuses travelled around the world to the city of Sheffield in South Yorkshire, England. The international study tour to Sheffield Hallam University was the first of its kind, as it included students across a number of disciplines within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Science.

Students from La Trobe University's Master of Community Planning and Development and Bachelor of Urban, Rural and Environmental Planning courses in Bendigo travelled to Trehtham to assist the community to develop ideas for an urban structure plan. It is hoped that the plan will assist residents to determine the type and scale of growth they envisage in their town.

Dr Julie Rudner (Urban, Rural and Environmental Planning, La Trobe University) challenges the audience to think about ‘risk’ and what it really means. While international statistics show Australia is a safe country, our notions of risk and what might happen to children if they do things or go places on their own tell us a different story.

Students from La Trobe University Bendigo's Community Planning and Development program have been in Lake Boga. The students have been using new technology to record data that will help them assess the effectiveness of current thoughts and concept plans to promote people movement around Lake Boga, the lake and into Swan Hill.
