Join Jake Bension as he interviews Maya Woolfolk on the importance of investing in yourself to help ensure your success on the journey to making your dreams a reality!
Our strengths and weaknesses are a part of us, but if we can't escape them, how can we make better use of them in our daily lives? Jake and I use a bunch of garden analogies to provide some insight as to how you can begin knowing yourself at a deeper level.
We have discussed what intention is and why it is important, how we go about finding our motivation, but now we look into what we need to do: Take action. Intention and action are the same thing. We need to always search for our "IN" from our intentions so we can move in the direction we want.
We continue on with our topic of intention. How do we determine what needs to be done first in our lives? How is it that some people find incredible motivation and often we are left in the dust? We talk about how we might tap into the magic with honest feedback and start our own stories.
Often times, we just see cause and effect living, action then consequence, over and over. But what inspires us? What keeps us going? I believe that's where intention comes in. We are excited to deliver the first part of our ongoing curiosity with intention. What is it? In our humble experience, intention seems to be the bridge that connects the happiness we can feel now with the flourishing that we experience in the future. Aspire to Inspire Greatness.
I talk a little bit about my journey and how it relates to Greg Pestinger's upcoming book, "Road to Purpose". Although we all have unique paths towards our goals, we share a common progression. One way of reducing this universal truth is: Knowing ourselves, Loving ourselves, then Being ourselves. I believe it is another valuable way of looking at how we grow and live happier lives.
I sit down with a good friend and coworker and we talk about how something we value dearly, connection, has been disrupted by this quarantine. Hopefully we don't have to suffer much longer as a people, but going forward, we talk about some tips at home and how to stay on top out there.
Of all the books I have read and philosophies that I have subscribed to in the past, not many have surpassed that of embracing simplicity. That is the focus of this spring as we start to get into the swing of things and life seems to get a little more complicated.
Just take a step back and be simple.
We build on last episode's "Art of Listening" and take it a step forward. To action.
How are we able to step in and mold a conversation to be positive, proactive and productive? That is the focus of this episode. Stay locked in for our next series coming up.
I discuss my pitfalls and remind everybody that we have potential to change the way we do anything.
Listening is probably the single most effective communication skill we can develop. Listening allows us to understand every relationship in our life and move to improve it. From dating to networking to family drama, how we listen matters. So let's give it the respect it deserves. On the podcast, we talk about how sailing or the revolutionary war has anything to do with listening.
