These chapters cover interesting neurological cases where people have seizures that cause and are caused by music, as well as people who have congenital and onset amusia, dysharmonia, and tone-deafness. Today we discuss Oliver Sack's book "The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat", specifically focusing on chapter 2, "The Lost Mariner". It discusses a 49 year old patient suffering from a particularly bad form of Korsakoff's syndrome, where he could not make any new memories and had forgotten the last 30 years. This resulted in him thinking he was a 19 year old fresh out of WWII.

Today we discuss "Dioscorides On Pharmacy And Medicine" by John M. Riddle. Dioscorides was a Greek/Roman physician who wrote an influential pharmacopeia back in the 1st century AD. We discuss the treatise, what life was like as a Roman physician, some of the different schools of medicine back then, among other things!
