Welcome to Playbills and Popcorn where we pick apart pieces from the stage and screen. We’re ending Spooky October with the hilariously grotesque EVIL DEAD. In 1981, Sam Raimi made quite the impression with his inaugural feature film EVIL DEAD. In 2003 a musical parody would be mounted for the stage and both would go down in cult classics history. It also happens to be Adam's favorite movie franchise outside of Star Wars, we're taking a look at the EVIL DEAD.

“In these dangerous times, where it seems that the world is ripping apart at the seams, we all can learn how to survive from those who stare death squarely in the face every day and [we] should reach out to each other and bond as a community, rather than hide from the terrors of life at the end of the millennium."
-Jonathan Larson
Welcome to Playbills and Popcorn where we pick apart pieces from the stage and screen. We’re celebrating Garett's Birthday!!! To celebrate we're looking at one of Garett's favorite shows, RENT. This Tony and Pulitzer prize winning musical had a film adaptation in 2005 converting many who were unaware of Jonathan Larson's broadway smash. we're talking all things RENT because Garett doesn't like talking about himself.
*episode note*:
apologies to DAPHNE Rubin-Vega. Garett mispoke and said Alexa Rubin-Vega in the episode.

Welcome to Playbills and Popcorn where we pick apart pieces from the stage and screen. We’re kicking off Spooky October with the disturbingly hilarious BEETLEJUICE. Seeming to be the black cat of Broadway falling on hard luck only to land on their feet this show has nine lives. A fun and comical look at the afterlife and the crazy characters that lay within. Tim Burton’s classic vision marrying the macabre and whimsy into his 1988 movie and brought to life on Broadway in 2018, we love BEETLEJUICE.

Welcome to Playbills and Popcorn where we pick apart pieces from the stage and screen. This episode we're seeing red as we take a look at a film classic and a stage production that was a disastrous flop in its original run. This surprisingly heart warming musical based a movie that broke new ground in horror. We're looking at 1976's Carrie and its 2012 stage musical counterpart.

Welcome to Playbills and Popcorn where we pick apart pieces from the stage and screen. Today’s episode we’re taking a look at the rocking and hilarious Jack Black’s SCHOOL OF ROCK from 2003. Filled with classic rock and heart-warming moments. This gave way to Andrew Lloyd Webber’s 2014 stage adaptation. This one was so much fun to record.
Join Adam, Alyssa and Garett as they "stick it to the man" and see "where did the rock go?" with this Jack Black classic.
