Pistons have lost eight straight with the 114-103 road defeat to the Phoenix Suns. Both teams have covered six of nine. Both offenses cold past five games with Oklahoma City shooting 40.3% along with 28.6% from three and the Rockets converting 39.5% along with 30.1% from beyond the arc. And look who is sitting at the ready to exploit this loss is none other than Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots. New England is in the better form carrying a six game win streak. During this win streak the Patriots defense allowed 13 or fewer points in five of those games. Past three games Patriots defense allowing 245 yards with only 109 passing for 3.8 yards per pass attempt. New England defense sixth on third down and third in the red zone. The offense moves the chains well on third down sitting fifth in the league. Bills have been inconsistent losing three of six and failing to cover four of those games. Play New England +3.

California at Utah—California has shown improvement. They come off back to back home wins to Oregon St by 12 and then an experienced Fresno St team by 8. They fought Seton Hall to a three point loss on a neutral court. They do defend well holding teams to 41.9% and 33.7% from three. Golden Bears make their free throws plus do a good job defending inside and grabbing defensive boards. Utah an inexperienced team returning one starter and a total of two rotational players. They are shooting only 43%. Utes have a home loss to BYU by nine and were blown out at USC by 20 in their PAC 12 opener. Play California +8.

Ohio St at Penn St—Penn St has show and defended well on the inside. A good rebounding team on the defensive glass. Nittany Lions did force LSU into overtime. They are holding opponents to 39.3% shooting and 32.4% from three. Buckeyes in their lone true road game were beaten at Xavier 71-65 behind shooting 38%. They do have a neutral court loss to Florida. Richmond at Northern Iowa—Richmond is an experienced team returning four starters from last year. They do return fifteen from their roster a year ago. Spiders are shooting extremely well converting on 48.5% along with 38.5% from three. They have a road win at Wofford and covered in a three point road defeat at an experienced Drake team. Northern Iowa weak on the offensive glass along with scoring plus defending inside. Panthers do a poor job of defending the three point line. Play Richmond -1.5.

Valparaiso at Western Michigan—The Broncos return three starters from a 5-16 team a season ago. They lost nine players to transfers. In the MAC last year Western Michigan was last in scoring and sat 11th in offensive efficiency. They have a home loss to Division 2 Saginaw Valley St by 17. They needed overtime to beat 266th ranked Purdue Fort Wayne and 313th ranked Southeast Louisiana. Broncos are 340th in the nation in defensive efficiency poor in just about all categories including rebounding, two point and three point defending as well as forcing turnovers. On offense they are a sloppy team ranked 364th in turnovers. Valparaiso shoots and defends well inside. Crusaders are good at the free throw line and defensive glass. Play Valparaiso -5.
