Athletes with Diabetes with Erin Zimbal
Today’s episode is an interview with Erin Zimbal on the topic of athletes with diabetes. Erin is a physical therapist who also specializes in treating athletes with diabetes. Erin is part of a team here at Bellin that has helped develop a program called Athletes with Diabetes. This program is aimed to help type 1 diabetics who struggle controlling their blood sugar levels while they are physically active. Anyone that has a type 1 diabetic in their family knows how hard this is and how the body responds to physical activity is completely different from one person to the next which makes coming up with a nutrition and insulin dosing plan so difficult.
