Well, folks, this is it. We had a long ride, but the end of the road rapidly approaches. In this episode, we talk some about The Mandalorian and Star Trek Discovery. Aside from that, we just chat. This is our final episode of the Playing Hooky Podcast. We appreciate everyone who listened, gave feedback, and shared our episodes. We’ll still be around on Two D Ten. Hey all! Happy holidays, whatever you celebrate. This week, we took a look at two Christmas movies - A Christmas Carol from 1951 and Lethal Weapon. Is that a Christmas movie? I say YES. We are also a little bit more surly and angry in this episode, so I hope nobody is too incredibly offended. Take it with a grain of salt and enjoy your days; however you choose.

This week, we sat down to talk about Battletech. Our buddy, Fang, sent us a Bottleneck box with full rules, mechs, fiction, and more. Check it out, and let us know if you’ve ever played Mech Warrior, Battletech, or any other miniature war game.

Happy Thanksgiving, all. We hope you’re well. We are a day (and a night) late due to the holiday, but we’re here all the same. This week, we were unable to review our original two films, Dutch & The Crucible, because Dutch is impossible to find. Instead, we watched Street Trash and Monsters Inc. Don’t worry, it’s totally the same thing.

In case the title didn’t give it away, we read Cycle of the Werewolf by Stephen King and The Giver by Lois Lowry.

Cycle of the Werewolf follows the cycle of the moon and the werewolf who kills under it. The Giver is a story set in a Utopian/Dystopian future!

In this episode, we sit down with our buddy Chris to chat about the 2014 movie What We Do in the Shadows, as well as the FX show. What We Do in the Shadows is a 2014 New Zealand mockumentary horror comedy film written and directed by Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi and the first installment in the What We Do in the Shadows franchise. The film also stars Clement and Waititi, along with Jonathan Brugh, Ben Fransham, Cori Gonzalez-Macuer, Stu Rutherford, and Jackie van Beek. The film's plot concerns several vampires who live together in a flat in Wellington.

We are back with another film review episode. This week, we did something a little different: We reviewed three Halloween movies to celebrate the upcoming holiday. First, we watched the original Friday the 13th and the massacre at Camp Crystal Lake.

Next, we watched A Nightmare on Elm Street, directed by Wes Craven. Freddy Kruger, a monster from the world of dreams, exacts his revenge on the children of Elm Street.

Finally, we watch the original Halloween, directed by John Carpenter. Halloween tells the story of Michael Myers, who escapes from a mental institution, and hunts down teenagers in a sleepy Illinois town.

In this episode, we visited some of the generally accepted “best food spots” of Chicago. We discuss our favorites and our least favorites, what we would eat again, and which foods we think don’t quite live up to the hype.

This episode is not a commentary on who does these particular foods best. We only chose places that many people would agree are near the top of the list in their category. We visited (ate) four spots in this episode:

Welcome back to the show! This week, we force each other to watch musicals! First, we sat down to watch one of Rachel’s favorite productions, Hamilton. After much crying, we chewed up the Trey Parker and Matt Stone movie, Cannibal! the Musical. ”Hamilton: An American Musical is a sung-and-rapped-through musical by Lin-Manuel Miranda. It tells the story of American Founding Father Alexander Hamilton.”

Cannibal! The Musical (originally known as Alferd Packer: The Musical) is a 1993 American independent musical black comedy film directed, written, produced, co-scored by, and starring Trey Parker.
