PLEASE DON’T BE SHADY 🌿

Scripture:
Jonah 4:1–5 (NIV)

But to Jonah this seemed very wrong, and he became angry.
2 He prayed to the Lord, “Isn’t this what I said, Lord, when I was still at home? That is what I tried to forestall by fleeing to Tarshish. I knew that you are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abounding in love, a God who relents from sending calamity.
3 Now, Lord, take away my life, for it is better for me to die than to live.”
4 But the Lord replied, “Is it right for you to be angry?”
5 Jonah had gone out and sat down at a place east of the city. There he made himself a shelter, sat in its shade, and waited to see what would happen to the city.

GOD IS A PLANNER 🗓️

Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

➡️ God’s plans aren’t random — they’re intentional.
➡️ He doesn’t just react; He already has a route.

GOD IS A PREPARER ⚙️

Jonah 1:1–3, 2:10 (NIV)

The word of the Lord came to Jonah son of Amittai: “Go to the great city of Nineveh and preach against it, because its wickedness has come up before Me.”
But Jonah ran away from the Lord and headed for Tarshish…
And the Lord commanded the fish, and it vomited Jonah onto dry land.

➡️ Even when Jonah ran, God was preparing what he’d need to return.
➡️ The storm, the ship, and the fish were all part of the preparation — not the punishment.

GOD IS A PLANTER 🌱

Jonah had gone out and sat down at a place east of the city. There he made himself a shelter, sat in its shade, and waited to see what would happen to the city.

➡️ God doesn’t just plan or prepare; He plants — people, seeds, and seasons.
➡️ Every plant in your life serves a purpose — to shade, shape, or show you something.

5 TRENDS OF SHADY PEOPLE 🕶️

Shady people choose comfort over compassion.
 They care more about their seat than someone’s soul.

Shady people have selective grace.
 They want forgiveness for themselves but justice for everybody else.

Shady people are easily offended.
 They confuse correction with rejection.

Shady people mistake results for relationship.
 They celebrate outcomes but neglect intimacy.

Shady people want to cover themselves.
 They hide under shade instead of walking in light.
