Please Pause: Filipino TV and Film

SPOILER-FREE right up to the very end... Of the season. It's our Season 6 finale! Why? Gusto lang namin. And what a time it is to agree to disagree. We have a good mix of movies and series here but we don't quite feel the same about them. Una na dyan ang Freakier Friday. Lindsay Lohan is back and Manny Jacinto was here... As in here in the Philippines! Pag-usapan natin 'yan. From Friday, punta naman tayo sa Wednesday starring Jenna Ortega. Then we also have Celine Song's latest film, Materialists. It may have the star power of Chris Evans, Pedro Pascal, and Dakota Johnson but does it hold up to Past Lives? We have a lot to say about that. Then finally, we watched the latest horror phenomenon, Weapons! You'll be hard-pressed to find a negative review of this Julia Garner horror mystery. Well... How about here? Listen in and let us know ow what you think!

We're back and still SPOILER-FREE! And maybe you'll learn something useful from us in this episode for a change? Who knows? Let's go! Antoinette Jadaone and Maris Racal's Sunshine has finally been released sa Pilipinas! Medyo mabigat ang pelikulang 'to but if you're interested in seeing it, you probably should as soon as you can dahil baka mawala na siya sa mga sinehan before you realize it. Napag-usapan rin ang golf comedy ni Adam Sandler na Happy Gilmore 2. And as if that's not enough golf comedy, we also talked about the Apple TV+ series, Stick, starring Owen Wilson. Ham also tells us about Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson's latest comedy movie, The Naked Gun. And last but definitely not the least, Fantastic Four! Marvel's first family is finally here and... We have some mixed feelings about it? All that and of course, a lot of antics and shenanigans in this episode!

SPOILER-FREE pa rin kahit na LDR podcasting na kami ulit! Ham's away again but that never stopped us before. Just a word of warning, this episode's a bit light on the TV and film but it's certainly heavy on everything else. We begin with Mike telling us about the Australian horror film from the Philippou brothers, Bring Her Back. We then get into the 4th season of The Bear, the widely acclaimed—is it still? Pag-usapan natin. Ham then tells us about a movie she saw during her flight, the Latvian animated film, Flow. And last but not the least, we end the episode with the MCU series, Iron Heart.

SPOILER-FREE syempre! We recorded this episode on a rainy afternoon kaya pasensya na sa background noise. This was also right before Ham's flight back to the UK kaya eto na rin ang despedida niya. Umabot kaya siya sa flight? We'll see. But no matter, what a huge episode this is. We start with Jurassic World Rebirth starring ScarJo, Mahershala Ali, and a bunch of... Weird dinosaurs? So was it a rebirth indeed? Or an extinction? Pag-usapan natin. Pagkatapos noon, we also have F1 or F1 the Movie, the movie about F1 the sport. Was it a podium finish for Brad pitt? Or was it a very expensive flat tire? We'll tell you all about it. Dito nga rin pala sa episode na 'to ping-usapan namin ang much anticipated (by most people) final season ng Squid Game. Then last but in no way the least, Superman! James Gunn's Superman is finally out and we have some things to say about it. Is DC finally back on track? Are things finally looking up? All that in ONE episode! Plus shout outs galore to our beloved listeners!

Still SPOILER-FREE but not going to lie, there isn't much in this episode. We have so much stuff to catch up on but that's for another time. For now, magkwentuhan muna tayo. Ham tells us about Pixar's latest animated movie, Elio! Right on the heels of Lilo and Stitch and How to Train Your Dragon, kamusta naman kaya si Elio and his out of this world adventure? Let's go. Napanood rin namin ang serial killer plus shark thriller film na Dangerous Animals so pag-uusapan rin natin yan. Then we also have Netflix's latest hit, K-Pop Demon Hunters. Meron din ditong Lost in Starlight and Predator: Killer of Killers. And to top that off, napag-usapan rin ang documentary series by the multi-awarded Filipino journalist, Jiggy Manicad, I Love Filipino. That and a lot more nonsense, all in this episode!

SPOILER-FREE yey! We've been really bad at promoting our recent episodes so thanks for sticking with us! Ham's still live and in person in our beautiful country of the Philippines so might as well make the most of it. We saw a bunch of movies straight from the silver screen. Una na dyan ang live-action remake of How to Train Your Dragon. Hiccup and Toothless are at it again but this time, they are live! Well, actually, the dragons are still CGI—more realistic and a lot more detailed CGI. Pag-usapan natin what else this remake has to offer. Hindi lang yan, we also have Charo Santos and Dingdong Dantes in their much hyped romantic movie, Only We Know! Is much of it hype only? Romantic nga ba? Let's get into Director Irene Villamor's latest film. And then sa sine pa rin, we also have Flower Girl! Directed by Fatrick Tabada and starring Sue Ramirez and her lost poochy, this raunchy comedy is coming to cinemas on June 18! Also in this episode, Straw and Bet from Netflix. And last but not the least, we also have The Studio from Apple TV Plus—probably the most fun we've had from a series in a while. Let's go!

SPOILER-FREE as always! Ham is back home! For better or worse, albeit temporarily. So let's podcast away! We're talking about The Last of Us Season 2—na hindi pa napapanood ni Ham so Mike tells her all about Ellie... and Joel. Shhh! No spoilers! We also got into the John Wick spinoff starring Ana de Armas, Ballerina! Money-grab or a worthy successor? Pag-usapan natin! Speaking of spinoffs, natapos na rin ni Ham at last ang Resident Playbook so we can finally talk about it. Last but not the least, sa remake naman tayo with Lilo and Stitch! This time, Maia Kealoha is the live-action Lilo and CGI Stitch is Stitch. May point ba 'tong remake na 'to? Listen in and we'll tell you what we think!

SPOILER-FREE. That's it. It's been three weeks so we're not going to delay this any further but it's definitely someone's fault why we couldn't do an episode. Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning—last movie na daw nila Tom cruise, allegedly. Let's see. Final Destination Bloodlines—people died. The end. For them. Best movie in the franchise daw? Andor Season 2—spoiler-alert, if you've seen Rogue One, then good luck to Cassian Andor. Also in this episode, Nonnas on Netflix with Vincent Vaughn and Daniela Forever with Henry Golding and Beatrice Granno. I'll stop writing this description now. Pakinggan niyo na lang!

SPOILER-FREE in case you forgot how this works. We've been gone for weeks but we're back. Apologies muna because we have so much to catch up on, ang haba tuloy. Ang dami kasing kwento, pwede namang wala! But that wouldn't be Please Pause, would it? And here we are. So Thunderbolts* is finally out. Directed by Jake Schreier, this latest Marvel film has got everyone excited as we enter MCU's next phase. But is it just another cog in Marvel's superhero machine? Or is the buzz actually worth it? Pag-usapan natin! Hindi lang 'yan, we have another blockbuster on the docket—Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan's Sinners! To say that this is just a vampire movie doesn't really do it justice. If you haven't seen it yet, let us tell you all about it! Then dagdag mo pa sa episode na 'to yung The Accountant 2 with Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal. Was there a lot of math? Was it at least fun? Listen in and join the conversation! On top of that, we have the latest season of Black Mirror and Daredevil: Born Again plus some other stuff, useless or otherwise. Yes, we're still a podcast!

SPOILER-FREE but you already know that. Here's a new episode for compliance's sake. We had a lot to go through though starting with A Minecraft Movie! Mike talks about Jack Black and Jason Momoa's video game adaptation from the eyes of a non-Minecraft player so let's see how that goes. Nagkwento naman si Ham about Steven Soderbergh's spy thriller, Black Bag. Wala pa 'to sa Pilipinas officially but if the critics are to be believed, we better hope it gets here soon. We also have a bunch of series we caught up with like the Korean thriller, Karma, with Shin Min-a. Dagdag mo pa dyan yung medical drama ng Netflix with Willa Fitzgerald, Pulse. And syempre, the recently concluded White Lotus Season 3! Last but not least, we get into Rami Malek's quest for revenge in The Amateur.
